FIRST OFF, we have the same stupid huge 350 engines that we did 40 years ago.... all those $$$$$$ didnt improve on that much did it...
If someone were to come out with a product that did add 30 mpg, that would put the gasoline companies in a litte bit of a slump ( Not flourishing beyond imagination). If that product were to exist, it would not make it to the market.
Not falling for scams is 1 thing.

you do realize, we arent the only ones who use gasoline don't you? if there was a magical additive, someone somewhere would be using it and you would know about it.
Also how can you badmouth a gasoline company doing well in a free enterprise nation, all the better to them, not that they control the prices anyway, that would be you're government. It's also the same government that allows you to live in a nation where an individual can be prosperous enough to own two or even three vehicles, but whatever, everyone is out to get us, and we have it so rough...

If anything really worked, it would give SUCH a huge marketing advantage to the company that had rights to use it they would DOMINATE the market!
Think about an SUV that got 30% better mileage than it's competitors in THIS market!!!
Or a Hybrid that got 30% better gas mileage than it ALREADY gets?
Frankly, the commotion about gasoline prices is irrelevant. It's CHEAP FUEL!
For economy, the DIESEL is the engine to use, PERIOD. It's thermal efficiency actually IS about 20% higher (on average) than a Gasoline powered ANYTHING, but due to legislation on "Clean Air and Particulates" in the USA, they aren't sold widely.
All this conspiracy theory crap is laughable. Gas is cheap, and government taxation brings the cost up disporportionally to the actual market forces.
Were government taxes back to the levels (in real dollars) as they were in 81, gas would have to cost well over $5 a gallon for self-serve regular to MATCH the price levels in 81...

People are traveling less and buying less gas. So much so that it is already having effects on governmental departments. Specifically the Power $ transportation sector.
Due to lost tax revenues on gas sales, the federal highway administration and state DOT's are all receiving less funding and having programs dropped.

Normally its not like sales tax based on the total amout purchased.
Its fiqured on a per gallon bases, and if were buying less, then they collect less.......and knowing local goverment, at least in fla, they will raise the taxes to cover there loss, no matter they will collect it some how, tags whatever. Goverment jobs just dont go away........ever.
