A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I am concerned. I had a 89 Mercury Topaz with transmission going out of it. It has been hit twice, when I was not in it. It has a small dent on the left side and someone back into it and the bumper is cracked and the head lights were distroyed. I bought a brand new battery and two new tires.
It has a AM FM radio with cassette which works great.
Anyway, I am moving this week end and decided to sell it and I called one of those places that buy older cars running or not. I called the same place 3 times and each time they ask me the same questions, it is as though they did not hear the first time. The reason I called so many times was because we were waiting for a driver. I told the 1st person in detail about all the problems with the car and she quoted me $50 and I reminded the next 2 representatives of the qoute and they said OK. The driver finally shows up and starts complaining and telling me how he is going to lose money, because the head lights were gone and on and on......... and he ends up giving me only $10.
He kept distracting me and giving me double talk and whenever I would ask him a direct question he would ask a question off the point. I did not feel good about it, but I just wanted to get rid of it. But, I just was thinking about it- should I feel ripped off or just be grateful to get rid of the car. The next day someone was interested in buying the car for $200.
I have dealt with this company before and they paid me $75 for 79 Scirroco that was not running.
I am upset with myself. Oh well, I guess it is my own fault. Should I call the company and let them know the driver only paid me $10 instead of the $50. He did not have me sign a receipt. Maybe he was being real with me. All I know I can not sleep. The money is not really the issue, it is only $40 but I don't want to be lied to.
Any thoughts or suggestion. Should I call the company?
Thanks
D. Sundes

Call the company. Although, since you didn't sign a receipt it is more or less your word against his.

I'd call and let them know what you got. Tell them next time you'll just
have to record your conversations (for quality control of course!)...Rollie.
