We've had a productive weekend so far...

The boys ZX is coming along real nice. We got the rear brake calipers figured out. Turns out the drivers side was locked, so we replaced both rear calipers and put new pads all the way around. Parking brake works good now too, before it wouldn't hold at all.
The blower motor was a loose relay and a blown fuse. Fixed both and he now has good heat/defrost. The AC compressor is locked up although it did try to kick in when we got all the "Auto Climate" controls/vacuum lines repaired so we removed the wiring and belt for now.
The interior cleaning has come along way and we have finally got it looking good. We got the rear hatch struts installed this morning and most of the surface rust sanded out and treated with rust stop.
Probably still need to bleed the brakes one more time but we are out of brake fluid until the next trip to town.
Thanks to naviathan for the tip on the micro fische, it really helped us get the heater going. The archives were dead on as always, a little reading at work and in the evenings got us every tip we needed to be successful.
This site is a must for us shade tree fellows, we couldn't have got her going without it! Thanks everybody!
Yeah, the kid is very pleased.
He has about a $300 want list from MSA. So far he has about $100 in birthday bucks so lookout Sal, we may be calling in a couple of weeks.

Wow you guys were busy. Today I worked on getting my radio connected and working. At the half way point I left to be unproductive for a couple hours. Finished up the wiring when I got back, only have rear speakers because I didn't feel like hooking the fronts up. As an early birthday present (May 9th) my parents got me a hatch with minor surface rust and door with no rust. Sanded, primed, painted (rattle can), and installed this past Thursday. In pulling the louvers off my rusted hatch I found that it was never ment to have the louvers one of the PO put it on with sheet metal screws. I knew it was screwed into that hatch when I bought it but thought they just didn't want it to bouce up while driving. Now I just need to pick up the rear pads, order the rear rotors, shocks/struts, get an alignment, and get a fender. Then I should be ready for a paint job.

Glad to hear it's coming well. I tried to send a .pdf, but your mail system kicked it for being too large. Oh well. I recommend the leather wrapped steering wheel cover. Makes driving feel nice to the hands. I opted for a new armrest too. lots of money can be spent at msa!

How do you eat an elephant? One little bite at a time.........
It does seem overwhelming at times when you look at everything that has to be done to these project cars, but if you take it a step at a time it is very rewarding.
I have been working on my 78 for over a year and there are times I definitely feel like I am going backwards......now with the son's ZX project to boot........whew!!!!!!!!!!
HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!
The real fruit from the labor is being able to take a 60 mile road cruise in your Z with your 16 year old son in his Z right behind you. The icing on the cake is having your lovely wife of 21 years riding along with you and enjoying the ride.
I got to experience just that this afternoon/evening. We just got back from driving the Z's to dinner in a nearby town via the two-lane, twisty backroads.
Guys, it doesn't get much better than this.....................
Rain forecast all day tomorrow, so that is probably it for us till next weekend.

We have a CD on the way and I am watching a couple of paperbacks on ebay.
Yeh, he has that leather wrap at the top of the list. I just put one on my 78 a few weeks back and he really likes the feel/look of the leather.
Trouble is for his MSA list, his "eyes are bigger than his wallet"......lol
Welcome to the real world son.......................
