Ok, upon quick calculation of from the time he did the burnout til the few seconds later when the cop flashes his lights, the driver (unless F$#%$# blind) could have easily seen the headlight sig and roof lights of the crown vic in his six.
For all you cops out there...what traffic violation is a burnout? The only thing I can think of is reckless driving. WHY? You're not moving anywhere. You're not endangering anyone. Spend more time busting REAL criminals like mass murderers and drug dealers.

whenever we street raced cars or bikes at planned get togethers, we would do the mud smudge on the rear plate. cant run a plate when they cant see it. for the bikes if they came upon us, they would try and chase for about 10 seconds and then they just gave up.
we always had an escape plan and when there are 20 bikes going in 20 different directions its utter chaos for the cops to even try and figure which way to go.
now with portable sacnners the cops dont even get close to a planned get together.

Its really hard to give someone a ticket for that; at least here in SC. By deffinition that is not improper start. Neither is it reckles driving since you have to prove wanton disreguard for the public is hard to prove that he put someone else in danger by doing it or that he lost control of his vehicle as a result of that little stunt. There was no excessive acceleration since the car bearly moved.
If while doing it the smoke is so thick that it blocks the view of nearby drivers than maybe you have something, or if the smoke gets into the car next door and it bothers the other person then maybe public dissorderly conduct. In a subdivision maybe breach of peace because of the noise; you know, you may wake up a baby or the elderly.

exhibition of speed and unsafe start tickets (as long as you are under the posted speed limit) can EASILY be fought in court and won. ive been ticketed for at least 6-8 of them in the last 30 years and won all of them in court.

ya i pretty much did the same thing in the 240
- did my little power break - drove away - picked somethign up - drove back through the same intersection about 6 or 7 min later - chief of police pulls me over gives me exibition of speed and modified exhaust bla bla
it was a $336 fine and well i won in court because it was bs after i had left and came back like 10 min later and there was a nice 280z simular color to mine parked just around the cornor and i just said it was them because there was no way it was me :P
but i find it total BS your not hurting anyone your not even going 1mph
as long as you keep it safe as that guy did - its all good and go ahaed and do another one if you please - as long as you dont speed or ride the burnout out into some crazy sideways action taking up 4385698 lanes the cops really just need to lay off

The statute for that is different for every jurisdiction. Ranges from Excessive display of HP, to Improper start, to Reckless driving, (basically everything named above.)
And I'm pretty sure that guy didnt run from the officer. The light turned green, and he was just trying to find a safer spot to pull over.

If I was a cop, I'd pull someone over for this too. Can anyone give 1 reason why you would do this? No one's impressed, and you're probably distracting other drivers by doing so. Good enough reason for me.
