A&Q about 350Z

I purchased a set of headers off a gentleman who had them posted in the classifieds section of this website. Sent my money order, and received an e-mail confirmation that he received the money. Well - it's now nearly 3 months later and I can't even get a return e-mail from the guy. I've sent several. Apparently, he had a family issue come up and he swore to me (a month ago) that he would have his friend send out the headers. Said he would followup with a reply the very next day. That was over a month ago. I don't want to slander anyone, but I'm very concerned that I'll never see what my $120 went to, and I also want to find out if this guy has a bad history of this kind of business. Do you know of any recourse, or should I have just lit the money on fire and threw it in the air?

Probably the second statement.... There are usually circumstances (like I had with a very well liked and known person on this board) that keep someone from doing as promised.

B.S. a business transaction is business. if i screwed my customers everytime some " family issue " came up i would have been hunted down and casterated by now. business is business and it doesnt matter how well liked someone is on this forum. thats why you have to advertise in the classified section and not tech or car talk. the forum is set up to keep business seperate, however when someone screws you over it ceases to be just about business . the person who is screwing you over put his reputation on the line when he choose not to follow thru on the transaction in a timely fashion. there is NO reason you should have to be put on hold for his family issue. we all have family things come up and the world doesnt stop for us.

Well, as fate/timing would have it, I finally received an e-mail from him just a few minutes ago. Apparently his brother just passed after being hit by a drunk driver. I really feel bad for the guy, and understand that it is very trying on the soul. Said he spoke to his buddy that was supposed to have shipped them - and wouldn't ya know it, his buddy totally forgot about it. Well - he said he personally went to the post office and shipped them out on Saturday, so we'll see this week if they show up. Thank you all for your input. You're right - business is business, but man, I have to give a little heart out to someone that has endured a loss like that.

hmmm, seems interesting that you received an email "a few minutes ago" just a few minutes after posting this here. Also strange that it started out with "family problems" and is open enough to share a family death now.
True, it sounds like a terrible loss, but I'd agree with Junkman and he should have returned your money with an explanation.

I agree with 280zone, smells fishy to me.
One of my friends actually told his boss that he was quiting his job because he had lung cancer and couldn't work while recieving chemo. The guy is healthy as can be and now keeps getting get well cards from the dealership, that is scummy if you ask me.
Another contractor I know skipped out on a client and told the client it was because his dad was having surgery and the surgery went bad and that had to amputate his dads legs so he had to be at the hospital. The client wasn't to happy when he saw the dad walking around on his own legs a week later.
The point of the stories?
People are assholes, and although sometimes these sad stories are unfortunatley true, in situations like this, they are often a sick and twisted lie.

Again yet another useless post from someone who knows nothing about me. I wasn't disagreeing with you at all, I was stating that in some circumstances it may take some time for the person to come through and get the product you bought to you.

I dont buy anything I cant pick up or see that the seller has 100% feedback from ebay. The number one crime these days is over the internet. If some nigerian is scamming people into sending them money from bogus bank checks Im sure they have figured out that its easier to just post an item for sale in places like these and have you just send them the money.
Hate to be the one to break it to you but your not getting the header you got burned. In fact he probable sold it twice. There was someone here that didnt get a part that was sent three times and everytime it got lost in the mail. Someone stuck up for him too a person a "god" of Z car. Trust noone. I would like to know if that guy ever got his manifold.
If you dont have it in your hands dont buy it. Hate to rub it in but you could have gotten a brand new header from a company that actually ships the same day for less money than you will now spend.
