ooooo. Skyline in the US...ITs the same thing as the Infiniti G35 Coupe. Cept it is AWD with 450HP! The proto concept has a fugly front. The black under teh headlights makes it looks like its crying or something.....makes it look unpowerful.
A:
No, I think what they are saying is the G35 body metal is just for testing purposes, since they are the same FM platform (as I have been saying all along...) they can slap the GTR parts into the G35 to test the car, then release it with new bodywork. It also means the 350z might be able to borrow the parts!
"The car in the photo obviously uses Infiniti G35 coupe sheetmetal, substantially modified to fit huge tires and a large front air dam. The real GT-R will look a lot like the Nissan GT-R Proto concept that debuted at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show."
Also note, the article calls the Nurburg car a "test mule".

"Nissan considered a V-8 for the next GT-R but has opted instead for a specially developed twin-turbo V-6, due to its lower weight and explosive power potential. A limited-edition 2005-model GT-R Z-tune, fitted with the now superseded twin-turbo straight-six, generated over 500 horsepower, showing the potential of this car. Britain’s Cosworth is helping Nissan extract more than 450 horsepower from the upcoming 3.7- or 3.8-liter V-6 while still meeting emissions laws."
so the way i see it you can get a 3rd gen 300zx tt with AWD
or the next gen gtr strait 6 tt (although im guessing us is not getting this version s they say it is a limited 05 model?)
"Z-tune" - how about they "Z-tune" a Z :P

That is a GTR proto but they just have it skinned to look like a G35 coupe. I believe Nissan has said that the GTR concept shown at all the recent autoshows is about 80% complete, design wise.
I'm really anxious to see the capabilities of this car. Ghosn and Nissan aren't stupid, they know whats out now and whats coming out from other auto makers. If theyre gonna sell a car for 70k it's gonna have to be an absolute beast, and they know it. So i have no doubt it's gonna kick some serious ass.

Ok, I'm with you drivenZ, but the article said Lotus would be tuning the suspension. I never understand why all these manufacturers outsource to Lotus, when Lotus doesn't produce a great GT car. (Exige, Elise, etc are very light go-kart carts). The Esprit was not great at handling...
How about handing off that part to Porsche? Or BMW? Why Lotus?
A:
i am a big lotus fan but i know exactly what you mean i dont think i would ever outsource a car weighing more the a ton to lotus
