My parent's suburban has been running rough for awhile now. It doesn't run rough constantly but occasionally, like when stopped at a light, itll idle fine then run rough for bout 2-3 seconds than the rpm's kick back up and runs normal; even when its all warmed up, itll do it. Plugs, cap and rotor were all changed, and my parents brought into a shop and they said its not the egr valve and that it was misfiring. What could be the cause of this? Its a 95 chevy suburban, k1500, 5.7 ltr TBI.

Dirty IAC? Hard to tell. Does the "check engine" light go on now and then? Have you checked the codes? Is any plug wire arcing? Hmm..OK, Take a look and let us know. NK

What year is it? I've heard of the newer models with body control modules doing that when the modules would start to go bad.

Mid 90's GM's have had lots of problems with the intake manifold's leaking. They will leak anti-freeze internally or externally. Also they can have a vacuum leak and cause the idleing problem your describing. Also GM's have lots of troubles with the fuel pump in the gas tank. If the pump pressure is not constant this could also be the cause of your troubles.

No check engine light comes on, haven't checked the codes the plug wires are new and they are fine. Parents heard from the shop and they said that cylinders 1 and 3 were missfiring and that they were goin to clean the injectors. We are goin to change the plugs today and see if that helps anyway. Thanks for the suggestions.

Alright, I changed the plugs when I got home from work and the suburban idles just fine. Doesn't do the occasional misfire and the shop had already cleaned the injectors. Tomorrow Ill be changing the fuel filter as well. Thanks for all the suggestions.
