A&Q about 350Z
Q:
On the way to work this morning, I passed a semi loaded with scrap cars heading to the crusher 5 mins from work. On top of the stack was an 82-83 Z, looked like it had been loaded with a forklift, no real body damage and the tail lights in one piece. So at lunch I scooted down to the yard and asked if I could look around. "Don't get hit by any loaders or crawl on any piles" was the reply.
I headed out and found it about 5 minutes later, as it was being picked up BY A GRAPPLER AROUND THE ROOF and dropped on top of another pile of cars 20-30 feet high. There goes inspecting it. Turns out it was a 2+2, and from the look of the exhaust non turbo. Dangit, looked like the hood and front fenders were basically rust free too.
Also found a Maxima with a straight six, but couldn't get close enough to see if it was a diesel or gas engine, all I could see was the valve cover.
Maybe it was for the best, I had no tools and really couldn't figure out how to get them home in my Z if I did find some good body parts......

1982 280ZX Turbo. $250 Parts car that was better than the rustbucket.
1983 280ZX Turbo. Hopeless rust case. The more I fixed, the more I found.

If it looked like a "normal" valve cover it was the gas engine. The deisel valve cover only covers about 1/2 the head bolts, real skinny behind the timing chain part of the cover.

Maybe it's a good thing you missed it! You don't really want to use your car key as the "jaws of life!" NK On a similar front, "The jaws of life were used at the Long Beach Grand Prix to put Oprah INTO her car!"

Now my boss tells me that ANOTHER Z, Brown color, no tires, etc. went into the yard just minutes after I left. He was across the street eating lunch and saw me wandering around........Dang who did I cross for this bad luck?????
The Maxima was a gas engine then.
