A&Q about 350Z
Q:
This is my Z story. I've been out of the zcar sceen for over a year now and missed out on the last msa show.. :( and yes my poor zcar sits in the lot with expired tags and lots of ponys under the hood being wasted.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that my love for zcars has not died. Just the other day a guy chased me down because he knew I had a zcar and needed some help. He was about 40 and had a son whom he had just got a zcar in time for his 18th birthday. I hadn't touched a stock zcar in years but I guess it's like riding a bike because when I saw the hood of that Z pop and the overwhelming appearance of a restore begining, everything just came back. They guy was a retired mechnic from one of the large companies out here in Detroit and he had done a bit of zcar reseach. The car was running very rich and fouling the plugs. In his attempt to correct this issue he had read about adjusting the afm and spun it in the rich direction. Of course we all know that not some thing to tinker with if your z is not in good condition to start with so I took him a few steps back and put the afm back to stock. tested idle and there was no fouling. kicked it over again and tested at 2500 rpm for 3mins. Instantly resulted in fouled plugs. Went down the check list and began checking all connections. The second my eye caught the TPS as I followed the harness around It clicked and realised that is the most probable reason for the fouling so I disconnected it and we tested it again. Sure enough that was it. Instantly the car reved like a beautiful inline six and had good mixture throughout the rpm band. So we then cleaned and adjusted the TPS, they were happy so we bs'ed and had some pizza. It was then that I remembered why I love zcars in the first place, the good people. I'll be back to SoCal in less than a month. I hope to connect with some of my old friends from Absolute Z Club. Cheers,
~Dave

Good to see your name on the boards again. I grew up with a Looper so I remembered your screen name. Welcome back.
