damn- all you guys live within driving distance of cheyenne where i lived for 38 yrs but then job took me to scottsbluff nebraska and its too far to drive to ft. collins (where i learned to drink at 18 ) or denver ( where i learned to do " other things") . i have to move back to civilization someday. if i tried to put a z car meeting together here it would be really lonely!! By the way -in my opinion Ft. Collins is one off the best looking,cleanest, nicest towns ive ever seen.

go north about 185 and then east from 85 to 30 miles ( depending which way you head north) and look for the corn fields and dust -you cant miss it. just imagine how i fit in around here being a buffs and bronco fan . who in their right mind would name their team cornhuskers. it has to be pretty intimadating to the other teams ( lions,tigers,bears buffs ect.) to play cornhuskers. alas i watch the games alone !!

zxtoy, 38 years in Cheyenne! Man, I lived there for 10 years and that was long enough. Graduated from east High in '77. Had the fastest car in HS. Or at least it seemed that way. Was suppose to race a guy from Central with a Mustang and he blew his motor before we could race. I do miss the old days of cruizing Central around the Owl Inn. And how could I forget, we lived for Frontier Days!

RAZI i had a girlfreind from east high ( Amy Pool ) her brother was my best friend (Delbert Pool) did you happen to know them? i picked amy up almost every day for lunch in my dark blue 79 dodge challenger. it had white strips and really wide mickey thompson tires on it. i believe amy graduated in 77 and delbert in 78. my challenger was one off the fastest cars in the area. i beat donnie sands 442. i also miss cruizing cental - the owl inn and taco johns! that had to be one of the best cruzing strips around. and in the mid 70s it was at it height.what kind of car did you have back then ? i raced over 400 times at the midnight drags and never got beat. those were GREAT TIMES!!!!!

i won't be there this week...i have some stuff in durango to finish up, plus the Z isn't driving right now...floorpan cut out along with other stuff, and gotta go visit moby in the springs to pick up the new one....but i live off bowls..boles....whatever it's called and kipling...so littleton area...near southwest plaza....only a few miles from bandimere!! definately job related.....durango is full of either people with more money than they know what to do with...or those that go paycheck to paycheck....not a whole lot of oppertunity here. a crackhouse 2 bedroom house goes for 300k+....and i'm young so i gotta get started somewhere. but i'll defintaley be buggin you guys...i saw a nice 240z at Good Times off wadsworth the other night.

zxtoy, I had a Jade Green 67 Chevelle SS. For a 16 year old kid, I had one hell of a car. Maybe you knew my dad, David Singer. He had the machine shop at the Napa Store. I bought my Chevelle from Bruce Bechtel (spl: ?). It was a basically mint condition car and I bought just the rolling chassis from him for $700.00.
The big boys used to run the Midnight drags (We knew them as the guys out of school who had money to put into their cars). Donnie Sands was kind of a legend to the younger crowd. I did a lot of my drag racing at Gate 2 and I used to watch guys race at the road just off I-25 past the Hitching Post Inn. Ran from the cops once during one of those race nights and actually out ran two of them back into town. Once got escorted out of Denver by the Denver police because they siad my exhaust was illegal. When I got to the state line the Wyoming Highway Patrol or sherrif (can't remember which one) escorted me back into town. Got home and the first thing my dad said to me was "I heard you got escorted back into town". I had a glove box full of tickets. Thank god wyoming didn't have a point system.

RAZI- that machine shop at the napa store did the balance, blueprint , head and valve work to my 413 in my challenger-i bought all the trw parts for my motor there.yeah sands was kind of a ledgend for a long time, i hear he is still building cars. his old black olds was on the cover of hot rod mag. twice and he had cars featured a dozen times. in 78 (i think) he took a little olds f-85 with a full blown big block olds engine to pamono(sp?) in cal. and took 28th in the nation. not bad for a wrench head from wyo.
i think i do remember your chevelle - there wasnt a lot of mint green cars back then. small world!!!
before you guys lose interest ill tell you - the only natural resource nebraska has is --TAXES!

RAZI- i forgot to mention that donnie sands was a real class act too. when an 19 yr old kid comes along a beats his legendary 442 in a heads up race by 2 lengths, in front off 150 older guys like him and all his car buddies, he comes over and shakes my hand and we talk for an hour about our cars and how they are set up and he even gives me advice on how to get an even faster et. he also makes it a point to always come over and say hi for the next 5 yrs of dragging the strip. the girlfreinds would always ask - you know donnie sands? cool!

zxtoy, my Chevelle was jade green (dark green). And if you had your work done at NAPA, then it was my dad who did all the work. We moved from Florida to Wyoming because the owner of the NAPA store begged my dad to sell his shop in Fla and move all his equipment to Wyoming and and work for him. I guess the offer was too good to pass up. People in Wyoming and surrounding states still call him to this day asking him to do machine work for them. He lives in New Mexico (about 4 miles from me) and has basically retired but still does work for me since he has what you would call a small machine shop in his garage. Worked out great for me. I had the fastest car in school (to my knowledge, I never lost to a high school kid) and was riding motorcycles as soon as we moved there. I used to live in Buffalo Ridge. Remember the Tornado?
I will admit, I had way to much car for a 16 year old. My first race was against a T-bucket roadster. We went out to gate 2 and me having no experience at racing, I dumped the clutch at 7K or more and spun through all 4 gears. The smoke from my tires was going forward faster then I was. lol. But when the car finally grabbed hold I only lost by 1 car length. I gave him a good head start. Funny thing is, that is where my car got it's rep (whatever that was), not because I lost, but because of the way the tires smoked and thinned up. People that were there watching said the tires look like a dragster on a burnout. I had 4 pushrods bust right through the rockers. Ah, to be young again.

my first challenger got hit by a drunk driver in late 78 on denver hill , it was t-boned and what didnt get smashed got burnt in the fire. i only salvaged the motor and then had to replace the carbs and the dist as they melted. the next 4 challengers were good but none as good as the first one. the l next to last one i wrecked on a guardrail( north end of town) at 95 mph. i hit the guardrail on the end and it sheared off the left front A frame and wheel. it came thru the floorboard and stopped when it hit the seat between my legs. i walked away . i found a shell of a challenger from a guy on top of the hill on ridge road. i spent 11 months rebuilding my challenger from the ground up. i drove it 4 times and couldnt bring myself to go fast again. sold the car to another mopar guy for $300.00. it was a 70 challenger T/A. wish i could do that all over! i havent had a really fast car or even close to one for 24 yrs. until this 280zx fell into my hands. and i found out that i could go fast again but with care!!
i do remember the tornado- i was dating a girl from east ( angela panzerino)and her house was flattened. in 79 i bought a 77 light blue corvette and she drove it to school a lot her senior year (79), i dont consider the vette fast it was a stock 350 auto- fun but not very fast.
even tho i like the zx i wouldnt mind having another challenger. tell your dad that the engine(413) that they did the machine work on was still running strong at 110,000 miles but was starting to use oil. most of that motors life was spent racing. a 440 would never have held up to the abuse that 413 did.

yes, south park is a real town, you have to be from colorado to pickup on alot of the local flavor stuff they throw in the show. There really is alot in there.
