A&Q about 350Z
Q:
So I took the Vette into the brake shop yesterday, and today when I drove by and my back bumper was hanging off and all cracked and stuff. HURRAY!@#@#@
Obviously i'll be looking elsewhere to get the brakes done, but how can I get them to pay for the damage they caused? I have pictures of the car with the bumper fully on.

Ask them what happened and how they are going to fix it. If they want to be difficult don't arque just call the police let them ask the questions. If no one comes clean then it may have to go to civil court.

^ Agreed.
The fellas at the local tire shop put my ZX on the lift wrong and bent the bottom of my fender. Make enough noise but don't loose your cool. Be firm and persistent but polite.
Good luck. In my case they ended up writing me a check for an amount bargained down on an estimate from a body shop. Whole process took a few days.

EXACTLY as Matt said to the letter! Do it immediately the longer you wait the more dis-honest and full of excuses they might be. Don't even fool around in most cases. Make a police report! This won't get them in trouble it will force them to take action and you will have a mediary that can deal with them so you don't have to get angry with them.

So they won't take responsibility for it at all (no surprise), so I have to take it to court. Wish me luck!

So your saying you drove by the shop and the bumper was all messed up?. Or you were driving the car after you picked it up and noticed the damage?.
Hopefully you and a manager at the brake shop, looked over your car before you had them work on it.
If you have a classic car and have someplace do work on it, have a Manager go over the car with you before you leave, so when you pick it up there is no question when the damage occur.

I drove by and saw that the car had it's bumper hanging off. No work was even done to the car. Complete waste of time and effort and now the pit is even deeper. Time to sell the car.

I mean, once I get it fixed up..this car has been a nightmare from the word go, and I don't mean mechanically. It's just too much hassle for the sort of debt i'm in; so once the bumper issue is squared away, and the brakes are in good order i'll probably let 'er go and buy another Z just like I should have done in the first place.

ah, well if it's to clear up debt and you dont feel that attached to it then I guess that wouldn't be such a good idea.
But how much money have you got in the car? If it's more than what you would get by selling it, then I'd just keep it personally. The 74' stingray is one of the nicest vettes there is in my opinion, aslong as it's red? :)

lol Typical cliche, red is faster hehe...
Seriously though, if you've put more money into the car than you'd get from selling it then garage that ride and cover it. In 10 years time it'll be worth alot more :)
