A&Q about 350Z
Q:
And wow what a difference. Let me start off by saying when I first did my motor swap, I took it to the local muffler shop and had them put on a "temperary 2.5 crush bent exhaust". heh.. 3 years later I am just now replacing it hehe. I did replace the stock DP with the Scottie GNZ DP and that made a rather large difference. I bought 3" stainless mandrel bends and a straight from Ebay. I took my piping up to the local good muffler shop. he cut the old off and what I found was CRAZY.. I wish I would have taken pics. 2.5" crush bent is small enough but at the muffler, the previous muffler place necked down the 3" inlet with 3 different pipes. I guess he buggered it up or something cause it was like barely 2" if even 2" going into the muffler. I cannot believe I ran a 13.0 on that heh. Well All is good now and boy can I tell a difference. Boost hits harder and pulls harder all the way to 6K. 12's here I come... Here are some pics.. Please excuse the dirty undercarriage and muffler. heh.
EDIT*** I added some pics of the old exhaust to compare..****

How long do you think it will last that low? It's not connected at the transmission, like the stock hanger is it?
I hope you drive slow. Good Luck
A:
I also believe that's way too low, should be going over not under in my opinion. Apart from that it looks great!

Yea Without GOOD hangers, not just the ones that hold on with one bolt and use a u clamp to hold them up, it wont last too long at that z dimmension.

well a few days of driving now and I have not scrapped once. it just looks really low in that last pic. and no its not connected to the tranny at all. I trapped 105-106 in the 1/4 before, we shall see how it traps now..Heh 300ZXT if you knew how the S30 suspension was designed you would understand why the exhaust doenst go over the A arm. Stock it goes under the A arm as well. Thanks for the comments and concerns guys. I will let yall know if I start banging into stuff.

I actually have 2 hangers with them welded to the pipe and hung on rubber mounts to the car.. it should be fine. Same as my old setup that lasted over 3 years and 100s of drag strip passes.

Just drive sideways over speed humps and coming out of driveways etc. My NA is mad low, I have it down to a fine art lol The aim is to get each wheel to touch down seperately, rather than together.

We have 3" on our lowered 240z and its never hit or bottomed out on anything in over 8K miles.
A:
Man, I was there last month!
Where were all you guys?
Then again, after getting my bucket of catfish at Cock o' the Walk, I was on my way north to Mayfield. Jsut stopped by Pat Peck and the old UPS store on Airport Boulevard to ship the Valve Cover I bought off Master-Shake.
Anyway, as for muffler hangers, there are actually 4 stock hangers used on JDM cars.
Rear of Transmission, Front of Differential (you can see the bracket up there, wether the hangar remnant is still there or not is another thing), Front of Muffler, Rear of Muffler.
If you hang at ALL those points, it shouldn't hit anything---including hte body. If you grind that stupid tab off the back of the R200, you can move that exhaust up even more! Clearancing the 260 / 280 Front Diffy X-Member will allow you to tuck it up even further still.
Why would you tuck it up that high? Because running a bellypan, you need it tucked up REALLLLLY TIGHT against the upper surfaces so the pan is nice and flat on the bottom of the car!
Now try the same trick using TWIN 3" pipes!!!
Looks good, Gabe.

But we have one here every year around october. Unfortunatly Cock OF the Walk closed down in Mobile. There is still one in Pensacola though. Pat Peck nissan was sold.. the new owners though also own courtesy nissan in Dallas.. so that should be a good thing. Did you go to the parts counter? see Ray or chirs? Next time your down man.. give me a shout..
As for the car. havent hit anything yet.. wooooooot

I was going round and round trying tofind the COW in Mobile, driving down that forested road, thinking "I KNOW it's here someplace!"
Ended up heading towards Tallahassee and getting my bucket 'o fish from Pensacola, someone who lived there "talked me in" to the COW there.
I was wondering WTF was going on in Mobile.
Pensacola and Mobile lump together for me, if they were in L.A. (Los Angeles, not Lower Alabama), they would be like Anaheim Hills and Corona, just down the pike, and not worth separating just just know the traffic slows there!
Yeah, made some familiarity runs and it was in the rental car, so it was totally stealth. The sharks wanted to circle coming in the lot at PPN---probably thought someone wanted to trade in their Pontiac Air Bag for a new Nissan SRS...
