Thats gorgeous. Shame 99% of the world wouldnt ever have a tire that could stop as fast as the brakes.

3 blades was nice, now you can get 5 blades for that ultra close shave.
5 blades, 12 piston, 7 speed... who cares. I cant wait till the calliper is all the way around the rotor with 48 pistons!!

Doesn't change the real thing that stops you though - the stickiness of your tires.
I think it great that you can increase the length of the moment arm and the strength of the grip but I don't need a 10 foot 2x4 to as a lever to lift 20 lbs and I don't need vise grips to squeeze a banana out of it's skin.
In correctly tuned ABS equipped cars with moderate sized brakes (like our stock ones) the tires are already the limiting factor.
I guess you need huge brakes to slow the inertia of a 40 lb spinning rim that is 19 or 20 inches in diameter.

i've driven my zx for over 300,000 miles in over 27 years. not once have the brakes been insufficient. they are well balanced, take the heat well, reliable and stop the car straight and true every time.
mayby your brakes need service?

well come drive with me on Zandvoort!!!! on intermediates... and right before the 'tarzanbocht' when you run at approx 210 KMH... try stopping.. they fade like there is no tommorow ... even with dot 5.1 good brake pads... the whole nine yards!!
On the streets even under hard driving there is no problem .. on any track with sticky tires they are just BAD.. And this is with euro ( so bigger) brakes allround..and less weight
I dont need brake service .. i have a very good well balanced track road car ... that is severly maintained .. even EBC brake pads where to no avail.
So does my friend A zx eurospec .. so lighter!!! and bigger brakes!! he had the same problem on track that is ...
Follow me on a track at my speeds and laptimes.. and then we will talk.. that is if you havent flew of teh track due to brake failure LOL
They are known to be very marginal .. good for street and reasonable for spirited driving.. that is if you stay out of near misses at the Autobhan braking from 200+ to 80 once to many!..
Not for tracks on 225 stickys !

mine never fade from dropping down from 130. if you brakes fade from a single application then there is defineately something wrong with your car. In fact, i've never had a car's brakes fade doing a stop after running fast (since the brakes stay nice and cool from driving fast).
now on the track, all bets are off since the zx stock brakes are not designed for that (no 70's designed car was). saying that the zx brakes are not good in a condition that they were not designed for is not saying anything. i bet that the zx suspension is also "insufficient" if you drive off-road races. duh!

Come to germany with your car ... you seem to keep forgetting that driving conditions are severly diffrent here than over there!
There is nothing wrong with my car.. from the factory floor it is even superior desinged to yours .. bigger brakes.. lighter .. diff cooler, better radiator, bigger oil pump and cooler.. stiffer suspension and swaybars ..
And still they suck .. even with all the stuff on Brand new

yes, like i said, my car is pure stock. no fade from 130 to zero.
there are two causes of brake fade: overheated brake pads and the second type is caused by water in the brake fluid. airflow ar 130 is plenty for cooling and even stock pads don't overheat.
road conditions? to get the stock zx up to 130 means a long run so of course the road is wide open for those runs. 100 is about right for high cruising with terain and traffic and never had a problem there either.
maybe you need to change your brake fluid or see if there is something wrong with your calipers.

Like i told you my brakes wheer fine when they where still stock and fluid got changed every trackday.. so no water.. I dont have any problems now i use my z31 5 lugs .. so that is solved ..
If teh brakes work for you good .. for me and MY road conditions the where 'ok'for track They sucked .. like i said before

The ZX brakes are way BETTER than the 240z (and the 240Z won a lot of races on the track). Maybe Frank needs to learn how to drive them?

Frank, I drove the autobahn @ 200 kms in a friggin' Corolla 1.5, so I understand your driving conditions. I agree with the rest, that outside of the track, the brakes do not suck.
Are they the best brakes on the market? No
Are the good enough to drive the autobahn? Absolutely

so i DO NOT switch between the streets and the track.. and we can keep discussing .. and saying my brakes are not up to par and badly maintained and whatnot ... i just say to me they SUCK ..

I can vouch that Frank can drive, Autocross. Ive been a drag racer since forever, and only my 3rd autocross, or any sort of racing with turns! SO I wasnt the best, although far from the worst. My car had SHOT springs, collapsed 2" with no tension! SO my car basicly handled terribly. I was turning only a 64.xx second pass, to where when Frank was in Tony D's WIFES 260z, in STOCK, I mean STOCk 185 wide tire car, was turning 61.xx wasnt it frank? And my car is pretty well prepared, other than those shot springs that were in there.
Lots of Z cars, 1970's-1983's.
