A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Since I sold the Z back in Febuary, I have been scouring the web and every state to find the perfect project. I have ALWAYS wanted a Dodge Challenger. I know they are built like crap, but I can't help it.
So, without further adooo.......
1972 Challenger. I could not afford a high dollar car, but this one's pretty darn clean and straight as hell. No motor, no trans, I can do what I like.
I will stay known as Z 4 Z on this site.
Best regards,
Dan Zimmermann

i had 5 1970 challengers and my brother still has his 72 one owner in his garage( its not for sale)
go with a big block and 4spd- lots of fun. if you can get your hands on a 60 to 65 413 wedge out of a chrsler it will bolt right in where a 72 big block was and has 30 more hp stock than a 440 magnum siox pack stock. i so want another challenger but they are like gold around here.
how much did you have to give for yours and post some pics please.
i miss my challengers alot!
congrads if you need any tech help let me know. i rebuilt one of mine from the ground up , bolt by bolt and have a great deal of knowledge about challengers.
is yours an r/t ,se , or t/a?

They have been redesigning the suspension so they handle much better now! Keep an eye out for them!
The link above doesn't work BTW... I would like to see some pictures also.

Stroke a 360 4" and then throw on some aluminum heads. Your choice of trans.
I'm still very torn between modding my 77z and a mopar of some kind.

Looks like a fun project, and when you're done you can sell it and buy two Zs! :O)

if you do a complete restoration on it than you can sell it and buy a dozen z's and have enough left over for gas money. challengers and cudas have surpassed all other musle cars in sellable value!! the prices that a restored one is bringing is sinfull.

Looks like a good start Dan. What is your plan for the car? Are you going for a stock, original build, or a 'who cares about originality' build? What engine/trans are you going to use?

That looks like a good body to start with. I am a Mopar nut myself and would love to own an old Challenger, Charger, Roadrunner, or Barracuda. Awesome cars. So what engine are you looking at dropping in it? If it was mine I'd try to go with a modern drivetrain like the bored and stroked Hemi DC is using in the SRT-8 cars. You'd get the power with better fuel economy of the newer cars.

Tough call to decide on the way it's gonna go.
Originally it was a 318, AC, non-rally, 904 slapstick, Disc brakes, 8.75 rear, with console/buckets.
My first thought is to build it as a period correct 340-4speed clone. All doable. I have a line on a period correct 340 motor, and I can get a 4-speed hump repop. I just need the peripherals.
I kinda like the original build combo- "blue streak" blue (B3), black interior, white top. I think I will replicate this package to keep the car's value. I don't know. Maybe I'll keep the roof painted, who knows.
I have a second car that is coming with this car. Nearly complete, too.
