My Z continued.... (pics)

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Well... went to a few junkyards early today, sadly came back with nothing, then ran errands, come back and our fridge is broken... so went fridge shopping and came back empty handed.... total waste of a day....
So just these night time (crappy) pics... I'll get some more tomorrow, because the flash really shows it's crappyness ;)
I have no idea what the PO did to the hood.....
I have 3in ground clearance to the rails, the stock exhaust is really close to the ground, gonna have to tuck up the new one for sure. Big speed bumps are a no-no.
Yay red shiny bushings! I hate the lime green S/T sway bars though....
Something's up with the stock paint, maybe they started sanding? Dunno for sure.
Dad's 76 280z (total impulse buy, he sold his Isuzu Trooper, got in our van and drove to Tucson to pick it up... midlife crisis?)
Ride height versus what I think is a stock 280z.
Last one... big smile for the camera =)
And here's my setup:
- All poly urethane bushings, front and rear
- Front adjustable camber bushings
- Repositioned front control arm pivot points (helps A LOT with bump steer on a car this low)
- Bump steer spacers
- Slotted rear towers (need a little more filling and then I can get at least 2.5* neg on all four)
- Small bit of the side of the upper rear shock insulators grinded to allow more camber adjustment
- 240z S/T springs I believe
- Tokico Illumina's (adjustable) all around, set at 1 front, 3 rear for in town and some spirited sprints
- 1 1/8 in front swaybar, 7/8in rear bar comming (it was defective.... had to call for like 4 weeks, ship the defective one back, have it checked out, then was finally OK'd for a free replacemet....). Stock rear bar untill it gets here.
I believe that about covers it. Problems as of right now:
- Understeers when pushed hard
- All tires are a different make/model
- All rims have curb rash (thanks PO...)
- Paint is almost 30 year original, and it's almost all faded/gone
- Interior is gone (except seats) but I have one in decent shape almost complete
- Stock exhaust sucks....
- Stock rebuild (needs boost or something haha)
- It's a 5 speed swap car from a from a parts car, tranny grinds downshifting into 2nd, shifting into 4th, and sometimes pops out of 5th... and it leaks... gonna be replaced soon I hope.
So rear bar should be in soon (or else >:\ ).... and I'm torn between more upgrades or bodywork (at least fix the dents and primer, maybe spray it myself). Dad won't let me go turbo till another year, but.... I can buy NA parts (header, exhaust, intake) since if I turbo it/ swap the engine (looking into vh45 or 1uz-fe) I can pass them on to my dad's Z.
This car has never been wrecked, and I'd go so far as to say it's 98% rust free. It's an awesome base for a project, which I'm going to be working on every summer during college so hopefully it's "done" or close to it when I graduate.
Hopefully gonna autocross it (at least) a few times here in Flagstaff before I head back.
More pics to come!

PS 1 fast Z, I dunno what you mean. It was just up Snowbowl road.

Do a 1u for sure, ALL alluminum V-8 4.0 liter, DOHC, yea thats the ticket. Good luck adapting it to the tranny without LOTS of machining. What springs are you running? You need coilovers to get the perfect balence.

Lime green S/T sway bars huh? Mine were gray when I bought them a few years ago.

Looks like a great fix'r upper'!

Do bodywork. It looks so rough right now it must be discouraging to drive or look at. If it looked sweet, even with a cheapo paint job, it would be the motivation i needed to get off my butt and work on it every day.

Haha, thanks guys.
cwd240z: All new suspension techniques stuff, I think ALL of it is now lime green... bleh...
trippint10: believe it or not it still gets a LOT of looks. Before the suspension was done a little kid stuck his head out a window at a stop sign (like 5-7yr old) and told me what a cool car it was, and if I was gonna paint it haha.
Zero Rust is gray right? Maybe I'll spray it down with that after I sand away all the surface rust.
fastnal28: I think it's the horn, I really hate how they look but I'm going to attach them anyways.
