Exceeds your needs.
A good quality 5 megapixel camera in very small form factor will run you around $250 and you would be able to blow them up to 8 1/2 x 11 prints with no noticeable difference from film.
Will far exceed the posting needs.

I like my Sony Cyber-Shot it 5 mega pixels and you can take some pics or make mpegs with it. Smart Sticks can be changed out in seconds and you can get extras up to 1 GB. I just have a couple of 256 MB sticks because I download right after I shoot some pictures or make a couple of mpegs or both on the same stick. It picks up great sound BTW! So we not only can see your Z's but here them as well!
The price has dropped way down from the time I got mine because 6 and 7 megapixel is now more of a standard! The thing has so many options I have not used so far but are nice to have. What I like is I can just unplug the stick and put it in my PC and move the pictures I want to keep and delete the rest in seconds and I'm ready to take more.
Watch the local adds in the paper I see them on sales all the time. Plus you can get supplies (Sticks and Extra Batt's) at your local wal-mart for a good price.
Take a look at some of these and find out more...

you want to say 256Mb not 256Kb
256Kb is barely enough for a picture (small one too)

Go with a known Photographic name:
Sony
Minolta
Canon
Nikon
And with regards to "pixels"-there is no such thing as "exceeding your need".

I too like my Sony Cybershot 5.1MP (DSC-S45). Takes great pics, very easy to use and is small enough to fit in your pocket without being too uncomfortable. I have a 1GB memory card in it and can take about 400 pics at 5MP.

For $100 less you can get which is a much better camera and has everything you could possibly ever need. It's even a great professional starter camera.

I would look for a Very high quality used professional camera on Ebay. Many are selling at great deals now, here is a professional $1,500 camera that is selling cheap.

I recommend Searching for these Olympus models:
Olympus E-10
Olympus E-20
Olympus E100RS (lower pixels but designed as a super fast action camera able to shoot rapid shots)
These cameras will take fantastic close up Macro photos and also have incredible zoom lenses. They are fully customizable as to the exposure, f stop, aperture and have multiple flash settings. They also have automatic settings for easy picture taking as well. You will get a LOT more bang for your buck with this type of camera, imo..........

That camera is worth approx $360, the storage card is around $80.
If you are considering other cameras, make sure to check what kind of media it uses for storage. Olympus uses its own proprietary cards which are on average 2X the price as a normal SD card.
