Custom bed cover for old beater Mazda truck?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I've got an old beater Mazda truck, and a beater bike that I plan to use for riding to class (so that if it gets stolen my wallet doesn't get hurt) and a nicer bike to use for trail riding and that sort of thing. There will be no room in my apartment for the nicer bike, so I was thinking of stashing it in the bed of the truck.
The only bed covers I see are in excess of $300, which is 1/3 of the value of the truck. F-that. Anybody got any pointers for fabbing a custom one?

Mosquito net?
You could spend $1000 on some bed cover, but if somebody wants that bike they will get it. I'd take another look at that apartment and find the space to store it. Hang it from the ceiling on its side if you have to. Just not directly over your bed.

Agreed. Bikes belong inside especially if they're decent at all. Components have a way of walking when left alone. You don't want to be left with a stripped frame & no wheels. The good thing about campus life is all the (young) women like the 1 above that will watch your bike & help you study.
Anyone can drive a new car.

Good point, store it at the GF's place.
