A&Q about 350Z

Was talking to a client today, telling them about my Z. She took me to the back of their warehouse and there sits a 1978 280z, covered in dust with only 64,297 miles on it, original owners. From a quick outward inspection there was NO RUST, I couldn't believe it. She's trying to talk her husband into restoring or selling it. The car has always been garaged and now warehoused for the past 7 years, hasn't been started in almost 12 years. Just thought I'd share my find of the day.

No...she's not ready to sell it yet. I did tell her I won't first shot and she said she would let me know. The thought of no rust just excites me. Still would take a lot of work after not being started for over 12 years.

What I have found works well is to go in with a really fat wad of cash in your hand. Forget all that dickering stuff. Figure out what you would be willing to pay for the car and get it in cash. Some 100s but mostly 20s so the wad is nice and fat. Put it in her hand and ask her is she would like to sell it. Always had good luck with that approach. Sounds like you found a real gem there. Don't really have the room right now so I didn't push the issue. Plus there a real good client so I think she would call me first if they decided to sell it. Yea, wade of cash always makes people think....yes I want the cash...

not ready to sell translates in to "show me the money"...money talks...I buy and sell antiques and there is always "sentimental" value...that value goes away with a handful of cash believe me...

I'd have a hard time parting ways with a wad of cash. But its a rust free Z...
1972 240z w/L28, tokico shocks and springs, and a 5 speed waiting. Also running high performance ultra mega blinker fluid, that's at least an extra 50hp to the wheels.

Let me ask this. How big a wad would you offer. I know more info would be needed for exact amount but rough offer. The car is a 78 280z...5 speed...64,297 miles orginal owners....origanal maroon or burgandy color dust color right now...hasn't started in 12 years due to having kids running business and life in general..manual windows and locks...dash is cracked and interior has normal wear and tear and cobwebs....Just the more I think about NO RUST, the more I want the car....car always stored inside...this is near Hickory, NC...

I know what car your talking about, and also know someone else whom it was offered to. I'm not sure why he didn't buy it, I think it was just bad timing. It's a nice car, with very minimal rust. It's easily a $1500-2000 car an that would still be a good buy. From my impression though she will take less than that.
