Holy CRAP! Sucks for F1 to lose Montoya. At least he attempted passes once in a while...

A:

~Sigh~ What is he thinking? I guess you got to try anything once. : P

It comes to me as no suprise.
If you have watched Montoya for as long as I have you would know his style is more matched to a Nascar driver (all the contact, aggressive attitude, no consequences kind of driving)
And as far as the jokes have been running, everyone pokes a bit at him having a "fuller frame".
Sounds like Nascar to me.
Now his training regiment can consist of watching more circle track morons and eating macaroni & cheese, whilst spilling beer on his shirt then trying to drink it off his fat gut. Not to mention working on his Rocky Balboa impressions so he can punch another fatass Nascar drivers lights out.
Im sorry you had to hear that, and feel even more sorry if you have watched Nascar in recent memory.

A:

you stated it yourself, Dan: you rarely see any passing in F1, which leads to very boring events (hard to call it a race if there are few position changes after the usual first turn melee at the start.)
There goes Michael in the lead
There goes Michael
There goes Michael
For an hour and a half.
You guys sticking your noses in the air will still have no reason to watch Cup races. That's fine.
Montoya wants to race. It's a great move for him and for NASCAR.

Lately it's been more like:
"There goes Alonso."

I would not be bored wacthing one f1 car go around the track. the speed, traction, Gs. poetry in motion. Arena racing is not for me. Great to get some perspective from the above posts.

I used to be a Nascar fan. But in the last few years I just havent been interested in watching it. I moved onto F1. I enjoy the races but I would have to say that it can get a little dull if the only competitive cars are the Renaults and the Ferrari's. I think what I like more about F1 is the style. The cars are beautiful compared to that Nascar junk. But over all from the driver stand point I can see why Montoya wants to go to Nascar. He is unhappy. He wants excitment and to enjoy racing again.

sorry F1 or nascar .... NAscar is just lame ... only left hand turns ..... F1 is kind of boring since all the rules kicked in.. But A1 ..that is more spectacular..
Myself .. im a rally guy.. now that is driving ...a nascardriver could only dream of!

Demographics, thats what that is. NASCAR is trying to grow the sport, now and even into new global markets. Canada, Mexico, and just wait it won't be long before the #8 fans are going to be cheering for Jr. on one of my favorite F1 tracks, Suzuka.
Good on Juan! F1 is an elitism in Motorsports. The F1 race cars are pure perfection down to the very last gram of titanium and carbon fiber in their chassis and in their airfoils redering them highly intolerant of "rubbing"
If this move is being done so that Juan can get back to racing and being competitive, cool. Otherwise, he looks like NASCAR's poster boy for the NASCAR of Tomorrow, filling the much need demographic in the garage for a latino driver. Now with Danica coming over, if that is indeed true, that just proves my point, of having a "hot" but yet competitive female driver in the NASCAR garage.

NASCAR is now identical to WWF wrestling. Nobody cares that the "sport" is low quality. The fans want to see theatrics, see the show, cheer for their guy. Stone Cold Steve Austin's fans know he isn't an athlete, and they know what they're watching isn't valuable from a sports basis. Ricky Rudd's fans are exactly the same - they want to watch the spectacle - the wrecks, the fights, the bump and grind, the personalities, the name calling....etc. They're too drunk by lap 5 to actually comprehend the race in it's entirety, they simply want to see the personalities and the drama unfold - just like in the WWF.

So what? I would assume that F1 fans go just to be at "the event" as well, just that every race is a tag-team event, LOL.

A:

Oh it was just an observation, that's all. F1 tends to have more engaging technical depth and course layouts, in my opinion. Driver skill and the cars' technical features are at the fore, not who punched who or whose girlfriends got in a fight after the last race!

Oh Lord, an F1 vs NASCAR pizzing contest.
Nascar's cookie cutter D ovals are boring as heck, but catch a race at Bristol or Sears Point and you'll see some racing.

Unlike WWE (E is for Entertainment so even they aren't taking themselves that seriously!), at least NASCAR uses real cars and the driving is not fake.

Moto GP is the only racing that I am even interested in this year. The Supercross series was also kinda exciting, however, all the car racing series and other motorcycle series all seem to be boring. Again little passing, very few different winners and not very close racing.

Montoya just quit McLaren to join NASCAR. Most people in F1 do not appreciate his lack of professionalism. I really thought he would get fired after his pathetic excuse for a tennis accident last year.

A:

Actually, I do believe he has now been fired because he announced his exit for the end of the season, leading one to believe he will finish the season.
Contrary to this, he has been canned, and Pedro De la Rosa (McLarens 3rd driver) will now finish the season in his place.
