Q:
so im taking off an intake manifold from a mercury V8 engine---replacing it cause of the dreaded crack...
ive got the manifold off and to the side, but i dont understand how fords fuel hoses connect to the fuel rail...ive allread taken off what looks like a little clip, but then theres like an inner hose and an outer hose...
do i just rip the inner hose off? its on there pretty tight, im tempted to slit it a little, then just cut it

Depending on the application, there may be a special tool that is needed to disconnect the fitting. Take a picture of it if you can and post it up.

Don't rip anything. The Ford fuel lines use a quick release connector. All you need is a little tool they have at most auto stores or a couple flat screw drivers to depress the little tabs. Then it will slide right off.
They have them at autozone very cheap with the tool you can unhook all the lines in a matter of minutes, several other automakers use the same connections also.
