A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I just put a deposit down on an 04 Maxima at the Nissan dealer in Exton Pa. Is there anyone who could take a look at it to see if it's in good shape.
Long story short- just got one last week off ebay, they didn't disclose the hail damage. It got here the car had been repaired once before, looks like it was the guys first day doing it. Body shop estimates are 6-7,000 to repair the car. They are taking the car back and refunding me my money. They are suppose to be wiring me a full refund, as I am writing this. That car is going back as soon as the money lands in my account.
I found a better Maxima in Exton PA ,20,000 less miles and only 2 grand more w/ 100,000 mile ext. warranty. {where was this one when I was looking before?}
I'm a little gunshy now. If someone could take a good look at the body of this Maxima, I would appreciate it. With the full bumper to bumper warranty I'm not concened about the mechanicles to much. I did run a carfax on both of these cars. The one that is going back didn't have anything about hail. Not everything is disclosed to carfax so they aren't fully accurate,
It is the pearly white 04 Maxima 20,000 miles w/6spd manual, moonroof and all the other extra stuff my Z' dont have. It is a great car to drive.
Anyway I would really truly appreciate it if someone could take some time to check this car out for me.
My email timohomes@mchsi.com
This car is hard to find with the 6 spd manual trans. hence the long distance searches.
Thanks,
Tim

For the kind of $ your spending, can't they send you some pictures?

I have seen tons of pic's. I saw tons of pic's of the Maxima that is going back. Hail damage won't show up on Pic's, or the dozen holes they drilled on the underside alone to try to repair the hail damage.
You can't see a lot of things in pic's unfortunately. The place I bought the bad Maxima from swore up and down the body was perfect, etc..
I had even sent it to the local Nissan dealer for an inspection. The hail damge was visable to the untrained eye, and once you started seeing a few, the rest of it started showingup everywhere.
Here is an example; my two Z's the blue 76 is in great shape, the black 77 looks great in the pic, it has about 7-8 surface rust spots, it's bubbling on the rockers, the paint is cracking in some places, the front bumoer has a slight bend on the drivers side, and some underside issues etc.... A close up pic would still be able to hide this. I knew about these issues when I got that car this spring.
