Not Zrelated-83 truck cam chain

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I am in trouble. I replaced the head gasket on my 720 truck with the Z 24 motor. Now I can't seem to get enough cam chain to get the sprocket on the nose of the cam- not even close. I can't see how the chain could have gotten off the crank sprocket, I used the wooden handle of a screwdriver that fit great like in the Z therapy video. I have rotated the crank around a couple of times until my marked chain link came back around while I held on to the chain with my free hand, it seemed perfectly engaged on the crank sprocket. Is there a way to get the tensioner way looser?
Thanks

Just like a zcar the tensioner is popped out or jammed. Might be able to push it back in with a long screwdiver otherwise pull the front cover.

you've ever been beside a semi's trailer on the highway, looked through to the other side and thought " I could make that!"

Wow your post brought back some memories.
I used to have an 83 2wd king cab with the Z24 and had the head rebuilt when the head gasket blew. I seam to recall using a tie down from the ceiling (garage door opener frame) or something along those lines. Like the chain or sprocket was just a couple mm short of making it on …Was a long time ago...
