Q:
He always sits on his porch and passes judgement on my Z. It used to not bother me but its quite often now that he sits there saying things like:
- "That thing is going to leave you on the side of the road someplace."
- "I'd junk that thing if I were you."
- "Sounds like you have a blown motor."
Nevermind that it has never left me stranded anywhere, the body is solid, and the motor is in good shape.
Even if I did blow a motor, it's not like it would be hard to get another one.
Some people are jerks sometimes.

If I listened to all my mechanic coworkers who told me I would never be able to add a later year fuel injection system to my 74 260z. Or add a turbo to that same engine, I would never be able to Gloat. What is more Priceless than them seeing me driving that car to work on a daily basis. Almost Nothing.

since you got the Vette though you now got two really nice cars...this is just his way of tryin to make you feel bad cause you got two slick cars and he doesnt....people will try and drag you down when you got it goin on...I bought a new Jaguar about 10 years ago and some of my friends really razzed me about it..

Well, with that "system" you're driving, it probably is loud as hell and he'd like you to junk it so he could have some peace. Sometimes the real JERKS in the neighborhood don't give a damn about how loud their cars are and if it wakes up the neighbors everytime they crank it up.

My roomate's father is the one who sold me my Z and my roomate drove it before me for 2 years. He's been driving a 280z for the last 3 years and has it garaged currently for the last 3 months. Yet he has the nerve to make fun of me for being the one to drive my Z everywhere, everyday. It may not look the nicest but it does the trick and I love it. I guess it's just disturbing having the harassment coming from a fellow Z driver who hasn't driven his in 3 months. That my friends, is no friend at all.

Count yourself very lucky that you know the guy and all it is is trash talk.
I have someone in the neighborhood hiding behind anonimity and makes constant calls to the police and the city because they don't like my antique cars covered in the driveway.
They even called becasue the truck - ticketed for don't moving in 24 hrs in front of my house, then had the nerve to call the police because same truck in my driveway was blocking the sidewalk. The Police officer thought it was a bad joke (the complaint).
If I were the only one in the neighborhood doing this maybe I could see it but many - close to a dozen in several blocks do the same thing.
We don't even have the 'hood rock band next door playing - and no one ever called the police on the noise.
Someone is going to go to court soon on harrasment charges - even the guy from the city is tired of the complaints but I have to go through Freedom of Information Act procedures before he can release any information.

It's NOT harrasment if you are continually breaking the law. Get your redneck shite out of the front yard and follow the laws OR keep paying the fines. There are laws against covering cars in the FRONT of the house. You call them "antique". The neigbors see them as redneck yard art.
Same with cjh1452000. His love for his purposely loud car is not shared by his neighbor. Instead of just a little good citizenship, he'd rather see things as one sided (that someone else is annoying).
If you don't give a damn about your neighbors, it's funny as hell that YOU people get upset when THEY stop giving a damn about YOU too.

Since when was it illegal for a car to not move in 24 hours? Or to be covered (I'm assuming by an actual car cover, instead of a tarp or something stupid). People have cars IN THEIR DRIVEWAYS under car covers happens all the time. Unless you live in a neighborhood with a stupid neighborhood association with a full lot of stupid rules. I too would call that harassment. Blocking the sidewalk on the other hand is illegal, so there's that. But I've never heard of the other things being illegal. But I'm not a lawyer, so I may be wrong and it could vary from location to location.

It is state dependent but many cities have 24 hour parking laws on surface streets. If you complain about a car that appears abandoned they will put a sticker on the windshield and tow it 72 hours later in Seattle.
You are not supposed to park your car in the same place for more than 24 hours on city property.
City property startes 2 to 4 feet beyond the private side of the sidewalk. The planting strip (located between the street curb and the sidewalk) is city property but is required to be maintained according to city bylaws by the owner of the abutting property.
Don't block the sidewalk, don't park a car permanently on the street, don't start up your excessively load car every morning with multiple throttle stabs, and don't get upset when everyone doesn't appreciate a 95 decibel exhaust.

Hybrid - we all know you're full of opinions about how others should live - but there is no law about covering cars. Many people in my neighborhood do it because it keeps the car cooler and saves sun damage.
If there were a law on that I would have been fined. I have not been fined for that. My cars work. The guy from the city is tired of the calls because that "jerk" is harrasing his office as much as me.
You go ahead and jump to what ever conclusions you want to - because in spite of any evidence or lack there of you will anyway.

Now here is my gripe about this "neighbor situation".
If you have a problem with my cars, noise or the condition of my yard - come and talk to me like a neighbor. I will and have done so with others in the past and we worked it out as good neighbors.
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"!
I try to live by that - but -
if you act like a jerk to me - I will try to ignore it - continue and then I will treat you or talk to you like the jerk you are being.
I have been in my house since 1992 - with two sons and there cars always parked in front of the house. My next door neighbor - three boys and their friends -always parked in front of the house. And they had a rock band practising all the time.
No cops, no complaints, we talked to eachother and the surrounding neighbors.
My sons moved out for awhile and then #1 and his family had to stay for a year & a half. Cars in front of the house all the time. I work and night my wife doesn't drive at all - so my cars are always in front or in the drive day and evening - parked in the same place except when I move and use the antique cars.
And now with the price of gas - I take a bus.
Sons are gone, cars are less, old neighbors have moved and some new jerk has come in and started this (excrement) in the past two to three years.
Cars in front of the house - 3/4 of the neighborhood homes do so - even big trcks and trailers for their business. Car blocking the sidewalk - common if they don't park on the street many cars in the drive block the sidewalk. Noise - occasional BOOM box earthshaker passing through and now that most teenage kids have grown up and out - hardly ever.
Anyone ever once come to me and voice a complaint - no!
Nit picky, petty ante, anonomous calls to the City & the Police - that is what gets me. Someone in the area is trying to start a "Neighborhood Association". Get it?
I am being harrassed and if I get beyound my normal "live-and-let-live" answers to some self righteous live as I tell you types - well see "Golden Rule" above.

I got no tickets for covered antique cars at my house - I proved to the city inspector three times in three years that the cars run and are road worthy.
I got a (only one in 14 years at this house) ticket for not moving my truck in 24 hours and that was thrown out as I stated above because the officer did not mark the tires to prove the truck had not been moved and I proved that the truck had been moved.
You bring up moving violations that we "discussed" weeks ago - I have not had a moving violation or traffic ticket since 1989 - and that was for aregistration sticker that I had bought but forgot to put on the liscence plate (remember those instead of window stickers).
The officer pulled me over in a driving rain in bumper to bumper traffic - to fill his quota - the ticket was dismissed because I had the registration sticker and papers.
Now O self Appointed Conscience Of The Community - about those violations from a few weeks ago:
1. No front liscence plate - wrong plate was in plain view in windshield - yes it is against the LAW - Mea Culpa
2. Inspection sticker expired - right - I purposely let it go so I would not have to inspect in November and then register in March - yet the car was roadworthy in Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb., and passed inspection in March without problem. - Mea Culpa
3. Failure to show Proof of insurance - yes - but I had insurance but not the current card in the car on that day - Agent was called that day and sent me another current card for that car and reminded me that insurance was soon to expire on another car which I paid for over the phone.
I'll not take the hit on that one - no criminal intent or planning.
Now if I am such a criminal how come the City Procesutor and the Judge dropped dismissed declared null and void nada zilch fuggetaboutit all the tickets?
And I remind you the Judge is an Elected Official whose job is to pass judgement - advised by the City Prosecutor who is Appointed with legal experience to help the Judge pass judgemnt:
How is it that these bonified Defenders of Truth, Justice and The American way did not even feel threatened enough by my actions to give me one "your irresponsible" and you felt compelled to tell me and anyone else TEN times that I was irresponsible.
And when that post was closed - you had to edit your last post to comment that the above Crimes Against Humanity were for a "JOYRIDE"
when I clearly stated that I was called into work at my HOSPITAL SECURITY job on my off day for an EMERGENCY.
