Shipping by Greyhound Bus

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Has anyone shipped parts by Greyhound Bus? I have a roadster hard top near Winston Salem N.C. that I need shipped to Chicago Il, the seller wants to use Greyhound. Has anyone had experience doing this, and can you get insurance in case of damage? Are they a careful shipper, or are they rough with the item. Does someone know of another method thats not too costly that could be used? All input would be welcomed.

Thanks Dave

I've used Greyhound to ship auto body parts before. They are cheaper than UPS etc. and have less weight and size restrictions.

Tell the seller to package it well, because it will probably be loaded onto a couple different buses.

greyhound is the way to go for big parts....you can ship a hood across country for about 60-70 bux.

I've done it (r180 diffy and halfshafts). Cheap and fairly reliable if you aren't on a tight time-table. You will, of course, have to go to a bus station for drop off and delivery. I don't know about insurance.

That's all well and good for Greyhound - but what is their policy on chicken jokes?

i believe the greyhound moderators are ok with chicken jokes as long as they're bus related.

Last year I bought a '77 hood on ebay and the seller shipped it via Greyhound from San Diego to Pittsburgh. It arrived in 5 days with no damage whatsoever. Some of the credit has to go to the seller who wrapped it in several layers of cardboard and tons of tape.

For the standard shipping cost, Greyhound only insures for $100.00
You have to pay quite a bit more if you want more insurance.

Same as UPS
Have you shared the left lane today?

just checked prices/destinations appear to be a good deal on large things, on small UPS is cheaper..weird.. bus-larger parts-cheaper..do they strap large packages on the roof?
