This is exactly what happened coming back form MSA several years ago. Newell Allen and I watched as a vanload of MEXICANS stopped in the CARPOOL LANE just over the crest of the hill at Green River on the 91 FWY Eastbound. We ended up moving 1/2 mile down the road because people came over the crest of the hill doing the speed limit, or near it (70mph), and they saw the van, by the time they realized it was STOPPED, and not just moving slowly, it was bindertime, and emergency evasive action time.
This is what you get when idiots who don't have a concept of what it's like to drive on a superhighway come here and decide to drive their motorized donkey cart. Something happens (like with our example) they just LEAVE IT. Don't make ANY effort to move it to the shoulder (oh yeah, might scratch my rims, can't move a car on a flat tire!), just LEAVE it in the highest speed lane. Even at 45mph in a construction zone, NO HAZARD FLASHERS ON, NOTHING!
You might expect it to be Pedro and his coyote sloooowly trucking the next load to the disembarkation point, but you don't expect it to be STOPPED!
Why in the hell would anyone STAY in the fast lane when they were having car trouble?
Answer: BECAUSE THEY ARE AN IDIOT!
When it stalls, deadly situations like this are bound to happen.
Sad part, there probably are no repercussions for the idiot who left the van IN THE ROADWAY, DISABLED, with no indications whatsoever!
This is the Hwy by the 101 interchange to ventura, I know where this happened, it's totally possible there is a blind corner---the video makes it look worse than it really is....the guy should NOT have dumped his trash in the street!
