A&Q about 350Z
Q:
how fast is a 240z with a f54 block, p90 head, mid cam, 4bbl carb, headers, early 5 spd and 3.70 in the rear??????
A lot faster than my stock 73 p30, n47, S.U. and 5spd....I obtained the answer this weekend.
This weekend we went for a ride in 5 zcars in a mountainous road; I post the pictures and videos one of this days...

I would figure around 2 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile.

Well, I ran a worn out 2.4L with my worked N42 head at 10.70 CR and ran a 13.6 @ 99mph.
With a fresh 2.8L and the same N42 head at 9.7:1 CR it only ran a
13.4 @ 101 mph.
So as you can see the power is really in the head and cam more then the displacement increase.

Dang, we ran a 12.64 at 111 with only 9.7:1 compression....
you do not need high compression to make hp and go fast.

interesting...

I did forget an IMPORTANT point.
The 2.8L was powershifted at the track.
However the 2.4L was not powershifted as I had broken the 2.8L crank twice in two years and had stopped power shifting when I temporarily installed the 2.4L.
Had I shifted the 2.8L by lifting off the gas during shifts it would have been about .15 seconds slower.

hey Norm, are you still running 240z stub axles and halfshafts?
Post Edited (Nov 6, 7:20pm)
A:
Yeah still running them. I broke one in 96 at the track and installed Spicer U joints. I didn't break another one until this summer when my rear end spider gears locked up and I drove it for a while like that.
I think it stressed the Ujoint and caused it to break. Anyway, when considering how many drag runs I had on that Ujoint with drag radials and slicks and regular tires and hard street driving to boot it's amazing it lasted 10 years!!
