A&Q about 350Z
Q:
ok to start here is what i have
70 240 had for 2 and a half years or so (wish i never got rid of the 74.5 in the back)
dellorto 40s - had them for about a year and a half but they are actully getting used
9mm l24 rod got 12 had them for like a year and a half
some ka24s had them for like a year
also have a 10.5lb 240mm clutch surface flywheel some crossdrilled and slotted rotors (actually getting used) a nice r200 (finally got that pile in there and it has handeled all the burnouts i have thrown out it but still havent launched the car hard or taken it out to swing) and a few other niffty things here and there
now to start the story
Well i had always looked for one of these but never found one and had just gave up looking for the mythical creature in its full bodied rolling form - i did occassionally bid on the pice of the creater i have been looking for on ebay but was always outbid
so we (me and my buddy) head up to Stockton PNP to pick up a few misc parts for his 97 saturn sc or sl (whatever there sedan thing is) 4 door - its a SOHC auto and we are doing a DOHC 5spd swap with MS intercooler and my T3 (should be pretty niffty but a totally diff story) but whenever we go always got a take a peak in the nissan/datsun section always just looking for littel niffty things here and there and still need a fender for my z31 - looking around seeing nothing usefull - check out a couple of the maximas and find about 5 mn47s but dont fill like pulling one walk through a row and look left see a pile of a maxima think nothing of it look right a z31 240sx an early s30 and thought to myself something was wrong with that maxima on the left look back hmmmm nm guess not but wait double take WTF is that intake i got to check this out could it be the mythical nissan maxima diesel - oh **** i win
was i amazed should be fun in the 70 but it kinda makes that mn47 i just got done doing some work a waste of time for this project though im sure ill find some use for it and those l28 flats i just got
walked out for $39 and some change after i gave them an old rusty l28 crank for core and is it just me or are the ld28 cranks heavier then the l28s? now just down to the machine shop for a bit of work i got an old l28 block laying around but its an early one and been outside for a year and all rusted so ill probbaly just use the l28et out of the 81 as im probbaly gonna need that head now as well and im gonna give my buddie the garret anyway
- more and more projects - still got to finish the headgaskets intercooler bov mbc for the z31 then i gotta pull apart the s130T befor i can even get down to business

everytime i go i always see atleast a few
i have one i stripped down took to a machine shop for cleaning - i replaced the valve stem seals cleaned up the valves and ported the intake a bit and its been sitting in my room for like 3 months or if you would rather have one i havent molested i guess i could go get one or 2 sometime

The LD28 crank is only two lbs. heavier than the L28 crank.

well unfortunatly for me it is right now - i like it the other way though it will be awesome if i ever get my 2 tone paint done but it will probably never happen :P

you know what??? there are let me think----i believe 7 disael maximas at a junkyard just north of where i live- all with engines in them..
i keep meaning to go up there, and bring a few hundred bucks to grab all those cranks, then sell them all on ebay for a pretty penny :-)
ive got one personally, but its put up in the basement in a box for later ;-)

Hey 24once,
I just picked up a block that is suppose to be a stroker engine. The engine dropped a valve and broke a piston. So we disassembled it and got the crank out. It looks great, doesn't look like there is any damage to it. Someone took alot of time balancing it, and in doing so ground off the part of the counter weight that said V07. We are trying to varify that it is a LD28. There are 3 other numbers on it and 2 of the numbers are the same as a stock L28 crank we have. The third number is in the middle counter weight are different. I am wondering what numbers are on your crank.

on the one closet to the front were the pully would go i have "VO740"
in the middle i have "the nissian symbole" and on the next one down "6 - 1"
then near the end closes to the flywheel i have "V07" then the last one has "japan"

wow nice once in a while I'll see a diesal maxima but I'm took lazy to pull the crank off thats a lotta crap you gotta tear through. Lucky find with it out of the car already. ^_^
