Oops I did it again....bought another Skyline

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Couldn't resist, a 1974 Ken & Mary with 65,000 original kms.
I will probably keep it in Japan for now. Actually it's in mainland and will be shipped to me in Okinawa in late August.....paid for it today.
There's some pictures here (if the web page stays up). If not I will post later.

It's kind of funny what some of ya'll consider collectables over that side of the globe...

I dont remember saying anything about it being collectible. I've been looking for a low-mile GC110 Skyline for several years and finally found one and bought it. Personal preference. Do I prefer an old Skyline over a 300ZX?? Absolutely.
But since you mention it, I'd like to see which car is worth more in 10 years....

Depends where I guess, I didn't mean any offense by it they're just really common here that's all although I dont think they're called the same model here as they were in Japan.
I just recalled you had bought a green one not so long ago, and now another one. I have a friend with that same disease and his entire driveway and 2 car garage and half the street is covered in R31 Imports lol

I actually know of an importer here in Australia who has sourced a 1979 Nissan Skyline GT EL sedan far from stock though so I dont think that's your style? Only 58,000 km's and only 825,000 yen though and it looks tough. I can send u the link if you want to check it out and add yet another to your collection hehe...

Haha...yeah I definitely dont need any more. The 79 is a different body style. But I would like to see the link though...sounds like a good deal.
I'm not the guy who bought a green one though...I bought a silver 71 about 6 years ago.

It's currenty in Japan right now, i think it looks tough as guts! lol You should buy it! hehe... I love the real "jap ricer look " having the oil cooler installed with the lines going thru the front grill aswell! lol

The only thing I didnt like about the "Japan" series Skylines was that Nissan went to the big 80s bumpers. The body style was nice and was a good follower to the "Ken & Mary" style.
I like the 2 door better than the 4 but the Ken Marys I prefer the 4 door.
Here's a pic of my last Ken Mary.

I like the rear fender and the way the wheel tucks up under there, that's really interesting because R31's are exactly the same in the rear especially the Passages!

I'm not a sedan guy at all, but the more I see the C110 sedans the more I like them.
I'd love to have a 2-door C110, one made to look like the GT-R model. Like this one:

Congrats on the new addition. That is absolutely one of the cleanest original Nissans I have seen. Take into account it is 30 years old and in Japan and you can really appreciate the care it's last owner gave. On a similiar note, I have just bought another Skyline too. This one is a '74 KHGC110 (Aus 240K). Pretty clean and mostly stock.
This one will be turned into a GT-R clone just as my '71 KGC10 was. Perhaps you would not mind looking for a few parts for me while you are there? Just a thought. I have a few RB30 blocks on the way from Australia as well. One is destined for a twin turbo set up for the Hakosuka, another will be made into a high compression N/A for the Kenmerri. I'm pretty excited about having the pair of them. I am waiting on a few extra parts, but I should have it on it's way up here in the next month or so.

ZG flares!!!! Get some!
1972 240z w/L28, tokico shocks and springs, and a 5 speed waiting. Also running high performance ultra mega blinker fluid, that's at least an extra 50hp to the wheels.
1987 Toyota Supra Turbo 5-speed. Belongs to me until my friend get's back from Iraq.

Nismo73,
Where are you located? Nice car by the way. That will make a perfect GTR clone! I like the paint....you could modify that paint job a little and make it a Japanese police car.

super clean looking find if I say....I can't say I know much about those
tho' either, but nonetheless pretty clean car! Now the Ken/Mary thing???
I guess that one throws me and I'm thinking if you bring it over here it might become a Ken/Barbie thing or is that how it gets americanized?
(oooh, bad statement maybe..!)

Actually, we spoke a while ago. I am the owner of the '71 2 door with the RB26. I actually just moved from San Diego to Phoenix. We never got the chance to get together when you were at Pendleton. If you happen to come out to Phoenix though I'd love to show you the cars. Good eye on the paint job. The previous owner actually modeled it after a '70's police car. Why I don't know. I will end up painting the Kenmerri in red with a flat black hood. I have the appropriate GT-R flares and spoilers lined up. What I still need are all the "GT-R" and "Skyline" badges. I am also after the GT-R specific reverse/running tailights. And mirrors of course. Not to mention a few parts for the Hakosuka.
As for the "Ken and Mary" thing. The name is not an official designation. Just as "Hakosuka" was not. Ken and Mary were the American charecters that drove around the GC110 in the Nissan ads. The term came about shortly after and stuck.
