"Turkey guts, junked car parts, and even raw sewage go in one end of this plant, and black gold comes out the other end"
"Others are optimistic too. "I'm impressed," says Gabriel Miller, a New York University chemistry professor and a consultant to KeySpan Corporation, a gas and electric utility that serves New York. "The fuel that comes out is better than crude, and you don't need a refinery to use it. I think they can bring it deep into commercialization." Miller has recommended that KeySpan burn the oil in its generators. "

Wouldn't it be less costly to refine by just trapping the methane gas and use that?
If it works on Mad Max - why not?
So it smells a little.

This is actually even better than that, because it traps not only the methane that would escape with decay, but also all organic matter. It's essentially just accelerating nature's own process of converting dead critters into oil (if anyone doubted that was how it worked, it's now actual functioning proof that it can be done).
Anyway, catching methane gas pre-process would make it even better, but from the article, it sounds like it only loses 15% of energy during conversion. That's amazing.

"No. Pigsh#t. The lights, the motors, all run by a high powered gas called methane. Methane comes from pigsh#t."

I think methane comes from all animals, not just pigs - but maybe pigs are more efficient?
Now - how about eliminating the middle man?
Think cathaters (tubes to drain urine from the body) - Mex-Tex food, Indian Curries, Thai spices and other hot hot chilli peppers -
Food to go and of course gas to go at the same time.
