So today I...

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Walked into the garage where I keep my car stuff (girlfriend's garage) and I found that their dumb dog tore one of my shop carpets to bits, gnawed two of my funnels to an unusable state, and even got into a quart of engine oil somehow.
ARGHSAUEGHUREHGUEHGUHRUGH
Alright, venting over.
Any ideas on how to convince somebody that they need to find a new home for a neglected dog? She payed 950.00 for this mongrel, and never bothers to take care of the brute.
He's a nice guy but nobody cares about him, and I can't go out of my way to care for a dog that's not even mine!
I figured this was car related because of my rant about all of my car stuff that I have to replace now...the shop carpet was a rear deck carpet from a 280Z :(

Thats not a dog. Its a oversized rat.
$950 for that dog? What a useless furball.

HAHA! These dogs are related to those pomeranians, which many people I know would associate it's appearance with a rat once it's shaved. I guess I see the resemblance.

3 choices:
1. Go to PetsMart and buy a ton or so of rawhide chews. Those taste much better than carpets, funnels and oil.
2. Get a new girlfriend
3. Keep your car stuff someplace else

A:

1. ---> good idea.
2. Perhaps...but I would have no place to store the cars in the winter.
3. Where else will I find a 6 car garage? I'd rather that the dog just leave :)

Haha, been there, seen that happen. Somebody left a gallon of antifreeze outside (sealed in the bottle) and he got out of his pen and managed to get into it (he likes to chew). We all thought he was going to die but he pulled through. Idiot ass dog.

my friend paid 1400 for her dog. its a little thing that isnt bigger than maybe a foot and half long by a foot tall. I cant believe she spent that much on a dog. Last time i replaced my motor it didnt even cost that much. I was able to buy the motor take a half day off of work and buy lunch, dinner and beer for my helpers and still didnt cost that much!

..maybe just going thru young stage? Actually looks like a pup still, but
maybe another breed mixed in? Looks like a Keeshond but still a bit small...maybe he'll grow out of it, some dogs get over that gnawing thing.
Shar Pei of mine went thru same...claimed an armrest on a chair so its hers now and won't replace til she's gone...also I lost a Florsheim shoe
in those young years...(that one REALLY ticked me off tho!)
..so why the garage? no fences? ...don't want stuff chewed in the house?
...forethought must've been missing. Dog cages are used in houses too, and most dogs adapt good to them if trained with them....(me, I don't want a cage...I want the bark directly behind the door for any visitors when I'm not home!)
And by the way, confining a dog to a cage or VERY small area is the best way to house train them and cages work good for that.
Hope things get better! Its tuff, but if its still young,
it may grow out of chewing anything but food (or occassionally a rabbit/bird/squirrel once in a while, but that's usually torture-play).

It is a Keeshond and is definitely pure-bred. He's well over a year old now so I thought after all of the time of teaching him between right and wrong he would be able to distinguish between the two. They keep him on a chain and he just broke it and forced his way into the garage somehow. I can't play police so I wasn't around.

sell it to a nice elderly asian couple... i hear you can make a pretty mean bbq out of those dogs

A:

why not put up a chain link section of fence in the garage in one bay and give him his own little dog run. ive put up simialer barriers in a half dozen garages for people who have expensive dogs put dont want them in the house. i say chain link because aside from chicken wire its the least expensive . stretch it tight and attach it to the front and back wall.
or sit down with the GF s mom and have a long heart felt talk about how fluufy isnt happy in his home and needs to find someone who has more time and energy to devote to his wellbeing. tell them you saw an animal phsyci--(shrink) on oprah and he said that dogs that act in this behavior need something that they arent getting at home and because you care so much about this poor cute unundrestood wonderful dog that you will be willing to help find him a new home.
however if this doesnt work then find out if the dog is microchipped and if not take it to the next county and drop it off at the animal shelter. if it is chipped than `youre screwed cause if you get rid of it you better bury it deep enough that no one digs it up in the next 100 yrs.
good luck !!

Strap that bitch to the buffer and put her to work!

A:

I don't mean to sound like an ass but I have a purebred female boxer and a male doberman. I love them both to death and as far as their care and needs go, I take that very seriously. They are like my children.
I don't think that bitch of a mother in law you have has the first ******* clue about raising dogs. If you don't like dogs and/or can't raise one...don't get one. Some people shouldn't even be allowed to own one.
In the sense of a responsibility to them, they carry the same weight as children. The dog is not a ******* stuffed animal, they are not maintenance-free. And since dogs evolved from wolves, which are social animals, you can't neglect them. How would you feel if your family (or pack members) neglected you all the time?
If my two dogs wouldn't use him as a chew toy and I otherwise had the means to take him, I would, just so he wouldn't have the misfortune of having that clueless cunt as an owner.
Sorry, animal neglect and abuse makes me insanely livid. Just had to vent.
If you can't take care of it, I would seriously suggest taking it to a rescue or a NO-KILL shelter. Even that would be better for him that having your bitch-in-law not take care of it.
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!

Don't worry, i've considered it..she'll just be all pissed off and not let me over anymore if I took her 950.00 dog away. Maybe I should call animal control?

Maybe your GF's Mom would like you better if you sat in her lap and licked her face?
I know a mind picture you did not need - but - after the problems with the dog - I figured you could use the thought that things could be worse.
I assume you really want to keep the girlfriend.

Ummm, yeah that is an option, albeit shouldn't be your first one. Go to www.petfinder.org. You can search by area and find local rescues. If you want to put forth the effort, go post a 'free dog' ad on bulletin boards at local vet offices and animal hospitals. I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem finding a new home for him. He's too cute of a dog for someone not to want him, plus he's small and purebred and that makes him a candidate for more people. But if you do go that route, please don't give him to just the first person that wants him...they may be worse than your bitch in law. He deserves at least that much.
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!
