Anyone use ARB lockers in there 4wd rigs?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Well its time for the rugged elk season coming up, with some of the harshest snow and muddy and rocky conditions where we go, up here in Northern AZ. Well I will be taking my 1995 toyota 4runner With 7" of lift, 4 inch suspension, 3" of body lift. It has 35 BFG's, Warn XD9000I winch, etc. It has worked good for 4 wheeling, but Im tired of the open diff's. So I was contemplating going a tru-trac posi system, or powertrax, but I want a sort of locker. I WONT put a detroit locker in the 4runner as it gets driven semi daily, and I cant stand the clack clack clack, when you go around corners, etc. So They dont have a electric locker by auburn for the toyotas yet, and sourcing a factory later unit is hard and will only fit the rear of my truck as they dont have them for a 7.5" toyota axle. So, I will probably be purchasing the ARB air locker setup, does anyone else use them or have any experience with them to give any insight?

I had ARB's in the front and rear of a 83 K5 and they work just like they say. If I was going to put a locker in my 72 K5 I would look at ARB for the job.
I had Lock rights in a 76 FJ40 and I didn't mind them but you had to get used to them and drive a little differently in corners you also have to watch the tire PSI as well.
If you get ARB's get the good air line for them as well or carry spare hose or splice kit.

Well, an afro engineered solution is to weld up the spider gears in the differential. We did this based on the advice of an old race car builder we knew, it seemed to work fine. BTW we did this on a 76' Ford Bronco with 33 12 50 tires and 3 inches lift so I don’t think it will cause the diff to fail because we abused that old truck .The bronco was a BEAST in the mud; sadly the cancer has just about killed it :(. Either way you can consider welding them up of a cheap solution.

"afro engineered solution"lol! way to keep it politicaly correct.i just hope no afro americans take that offensively.if your going to drive it daily i wouldn't go with the spider gear weld job.although it is effective ,from experience it tends to make noise and is annoying as hell.

zlion made a good point that I forgot, welding up the gears did create a "roar" from the rear end, but even with the top off the bronco it wasn't really THAT bad. Plus it was nearly free to do and the fun factor afterwards was worth it...

NO WAY im going to a spool setup (welded) For the street. Nor for tight corners. Im pretty positive im going arb, as its just the best way to go. Cost about 2200 for everything, but Ive been saving for a long time, so I think its time :)

Check out the Marlin Crawler dual transfer case set up for some serious crawling potential. They can also set you up with the ARB lockers.
