Getting things from behind hard to reach areas

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

How do YOU guys get things that may have dropped behind a hard-to-reach area? I mean an area that can't be unscrewed for retrieval. I'm dealing with a crack 1/2 inch wide.

Actually there are a ton of bolts bouncing around while I drive and I can't stand the clattering anymore. I tried the magnet thing (one of those pointers that people use to get silverware out of sinks), and I couldn't get a good hold on them.

Toilet paper cleans out cracks in hard to reach areas that can't be screwed.

A:

Pour some paint down there and just stick them down if you don't want them back.

you can get a magnet with a real long handle at Advance Auto...its got a long powerful magnet on a swivel...I just got through pulling out a 1/2 drive ratchet from underneath my car with it...

How about chewing bum or other very sticky stuff (putty ? ) on the end of a dowl rod or stright enough stick?
Or a trained mouse that will retrieve.
Not to be confussed with a pointer - you already know where the objects are.
Very good ear muffs.

you guys are too much!
But then I'm puzzled as I'm back to specifics and can't figure out if that is
1/2" wide x 1/2"long or 1/2" wide by 6' long....maybe it doens't matter but
visualizing what your after and where is hard!
Is the object heavy? What obstruction is in the way etc ?
How far of a reach is it, etc....Maybe this could be fun and you could keep giving us clues! I have an internal electro-door magnet used from hollow metal doors that'll move things with a formica tabletop between....seance anyone?
By the way, architects carry tracing paper ususally around in small rolls,
kinda like tissue paper, so they can modify dwgs / brainstorm easier. In
their line of work they refer to it as a "bum-wad"...We'd really like them to chew on it more often tho''.....
