met first owner son!

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

so i went into the local auto zone to get my daily dose of confusion and frustration and as im waiting at the counter this guy in his early 20s walks up and asks if i own the zx outside. turns out his dad was the original owner of the car in another state. he described the bumper stickers i scraped off when i got it and a few other things. he said his dad will be really happy to know that someone is restoring it and that it didnt wind up in a junkyard.
Pretty Cool huh!!!!!

And you didn't offer to let him take you around the block once! What are the chances someone from an other state happen to be in the same town, in the same store at the same time as you! LOL

wow thats a pretty cool story.....nice to see someone remember a car they wanted to drive and actually had it in the family.

A:

I would have sold it to him and made a few bucks. It means more to him than it does you I'm sure. You can always buy another one, he can't buy the one his dad had ever again. It's just a car to you. You can get another ZX and if he is willing to pay enough, you could probably get a really nice one. It would have made him happy and would have made you a few bucks.
Collector cars are ALWAYS for sale. You just have to have the right amount of money...

I have a better story.
I was at autozone and I was picking up some gear for an oil change (wrench, drain pan, etc.) and there were two hispanic fellows trying to buy oil for their car. I know that some cars take more or less, but they were looking for 4 quarts of oil for a change. They spoke very broken english but you could tell they were having a hell of a time trying to decide how many quarts were in the gallon jug they were holding. They wanted to avoid having to buy four little quarts and kill four birds with one stone. The young fellow in the red AutoZone shirt came over and asked what the problem was. The best way they knew how, they explained to him that they wanted to know if there were 4 quarts in the gallon jug of oil. I almost tuned out at this point because EVERYBODY knows there are 4 quarts in a gallon. It's like knowing the ABC's or something, every english speaking american citizen should know this. Well the young man (who by the way spoke perfectly good english) went on to tell the men that there were only 3 QUARTS IN THE JUG, and that they would have to buy 2 to get the 4 quarts they were seeking. I had to intervene. I kindly interrupted and told the two foreign men that they were holding 4 quarts, and that it should be sufficient to buy just the one bottle. The AutoZone airhead proceeded to cut me off, claiming I was wrong and not to mislead the guys...that there were only 3. After laughing at his complete idiocy, I told the hispanic gentlemen one more time that I was absolutely, postively 100% without a doubt sure there were 4 quarts in the gallon. The AutoZone worker showed me the hash marks on the side, counted them, and said "look man these marks stand for quartsand there are only three on the side here...so there are 3 quarts." I calmly looked at him and said "if you have a piece of bread and you make three evenly spaced slices through the middle, how many pieces remain?"
I let him simmer on it for a moment, patted him on the back, said "there are four, big guy..." then purchased my things and left.
A testament to the AutoZone stupidity. I only shop at Pep Boys now.

That's a great lesson: Never sell your Z, you may want your son to drive it.

Ha Ha CantZmee, great story.
Except that dude at the AutoZone got pissed at the Manager, quit, and is now working at PepBoys!
