But make no mistake, like a pre-U2 they are a "christian" group (at least until they make some money).

jars of clay are pretty cool. i didn't know they were a religious band when i started listening to them. they did cross over for awhile.

Yes there are, I don't think anyone is disputing that.
U2 is the exception to rule! They made it out of the xtian rock genre by re-inventing themselves, nothing "sad" about it. Kudos to Bono for being philanthropic dispite his success. For every U2 there are tens or hundreds of xtian groups that fail to become mainstream.
I think there are solid reasons why that is the case, but this probably isn't the place for that discussion.
