NZR(well sort of): Gotta love new engines

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

To get 25 HP's out of an old motor it took a good amount of work, headers, intake, ignition, and fuel delivery upgrades, and more than likely you weren't going to pass smog. I have a 2005 Chevy Siverado with the 4.8 liter and threw in a K&N filter and a Jet stage 1 chip and for 30 minutes and $250 got 25 extra ponies instantly and it still passes emissions. Not to mention it bumps up the stall converter, the shift points, and rev limiter. I am thinking about throwing one of these blocks in the Z eventually since they are going to be a dime a dozen, cheap, are rev happy, and bolt up to the T56 tranny. 315 horses at the crank in a Z car and all you need to do to the block to make it fit is change the oil pan. Oh yeah, SLP makes a performance kit for it and the 5.3 liter that picks up another 30 HP.

Old motor should do the same thing if it is in good condition.

for $250 and 30 minutes from opening the box to turning the key with only a screwdriver? Shift points adjusted, fuel map changed, stall converter adjusted, ignition advanced, etc., etc.?

Lol, just wait a few years when ALL that nifty electronic stuff starts to wig out. That's when you "pay" for the convienience you have now. It all works out the same.

Heard a commercial on the radio the other day that advertised the ability to flash the ECU in new model Diesel pickup trucks (forgot the brand) to add 50 hp for FREE. The only catch was that the performance changes only last 5 hours or so. If you like the results you can pay to make it permanent.

Personally I would love to see you in the driveway with this massive 5.3 wiring harness, trying to figure out how IT goes into your car without alot of fabrication, and long nights.

Let's see, in my old-school Chevy, cam and lifter kit from summit costs $175, and a used Performer RPM run around $75 -- I'm pretty sure that should yield at least a good 25 hp ;-)

i have some friends that all have diesels....they have these plug and play computers...plug it into the obd2 port and then select the mode you want...cruise, tow...balls to the wall....on the quick mode that thing gets up and scoots. another has the whole bully dog setup...little screen on the a pillar.... it's sweet to see 35" tires smoke from a roll.

My boss has the full setup on his Duramax, insane amounts of torque...around 800 ft/lbs. Good thing he has the Allison tranny also. With the balls out setting he's in the mid-low 14's in a full sized crew cab 4x4...crazy ****.
