i cant beleive how well built our 2001 maxima is!! my wife hit a deer head on at 65 mph last night about 10:30. when she got the car home all the damage on it was - the hood has dent in the front of it and the windsheild is shattered. nobody was hurt except the deer ( it expired). i raised the hood and nothing underneath was damaged. the grill ,headlights,bumper everything is unscathed. the highway patrolman who filled out the report for insur. said he couldnt beleive how well the maxima faired in the accident. im just happy the wife and daughter are fine cause the car is replaceble but not the loved ones.
most vehicles around here that hit deer are totaled- quess they should have bought Nissan!!!!

you should see some of the cars around here that have run-ins with elk......can't even tell what kind of car it was.

Once I hit a deer in my Eagle Summit going 70 mph and kept driving. I think one time I was so possessed with hatred for the car that I tried to run down a buck one time.
Then the car caught fire on July 4th and 5 days later, I had my Datsun.
Good times.

no the highway patrol leave the deer in the ditch so more animals will come to feed on it and get hit by cars. i think its some sort of varmit control scheme they have worked out with the game and fish and the local body shops!!! haha!!!

If you guys have that much trouble with "road kill" how about old fashioned "cattle guards"?
The first trains actually had pitchfork devises that speared large animals the snow plow triangle came later.
Or a modified truck brush gaurd that would push the animal away from the windshield?
