Anyone know how/where to get hold of smiley packs for use on forums? and how to use them? this forum has the nicest (most sensible/useful) ones ive seen and i want to get them up on a uni forum.

i don't know much about the nuts n bolts of forums and web stuff, so im unsure about how to use smiley packs.
if i wanted these ones, for instance, would the forum i want to use them on have to be this "vbulletin" type? can i download just the smilies? can i do it for free? thanks.
in the mean time, im checking out those links and other google results.

You can use pretty much any image as a smilie. They would need to be placed in the smilie folder on your webserver then added to the smilie section of the forum software to enable the users to use them.
The smilie packs usually install all the required images and links automatically but they are usually forum software specific (not the images, just the auto install program)
But you can manually add any smilie to a forum.
What forum software are you using? This makes a diference as to how they are added.
For example page shows how to manually add a smilie to vBulletin. the process is fairly similar on other systems though.
