Original thread:
Each year the trip has become more and more popular and it's usually a great bunch of folk that make the trip the great success it has been in previous years.
As I say every year, the dates/times for the Touristenfahrt won't be announced until at least the end of February 2006, so we can't plan the actual trip until then - on this year's trip we had from the Thursday until Tuesday in the beautiful Eifel region in late July / early August. That was the longest of all of our trips so far, and I'm sure those who came will agree it was enough time to relax and have plenty of track time also.
There is a lot of info on this forum about these trips (two 40+ page threads to be precise!!) so have a look at those before asking any questions, but by all means post up and ask anything you're unsure about.
Basically, just register your interest here for the time being...

Mid December.
Isn't camping-am-nuerburgring meant to be a bit... hmmm?
Sorry to keep forgetting, but someone on this years trip stayed opposite the Museum and was said to be a lot better for those wishing to camp out.
The webcam on the main site should look awesome during daylight hours, cant wait to see some proper machinery on there, when it's open again, of course.
A:
Historically, the thread has always been started about this time
Yep, the web cam is a nice addition to the site.
Stephcascar camped opposite GP track, in a thunder storm the first night poor sod!

A:
Bless him.
(Depending on open times) Will plans be fore another Thurs - Tues venture or did I read somewhere about ideas for Weds - Weds to make more of a relaxing trip?
Of course there are talks about tieing this in with Spa laps... to early to call maybe on the ideas of approach.
A:
Oh no not again
A:
I am defo interesting, all depends on my work/leave.
Prob meet you guys at the dock in france or on route to the ring somewhere.
Need to get the mk1 onto a Jersey reg now!
G60 block required (long story)
Off to re read the last few threads in order not to ask stupid questions!
A:
Put me and Louise down again Gary.
Only slight problem I have this year is Louise's brother has been rather inconvenient and chosen to organise his wedding in Rhodes in August. I am therefore unavailable from around the 9th - 16th August, hopefully we can work around that - would love to give the 'new' 2.0 engine a nice run out... hopefully with lower oil temps than last years trip!
A:
Taken from around page 38.
Just a friendly reminder everybody, don't forget to take your Passport, license, car insurance, log book, E111, euros, credit card, breakdown cover docs, spare bulb kit, warning triangle, beam adjuster stickers/gaffer tape!, GB sticker.
A:
My tip is to check your passport is still valid and not wake up from a strange deja-vu dream a few nights before the trip thinking it is out of date.
I did this last year, woke up from quite an odd dream where I was getting refused entry to some country at passport control, went to the drawer and took it out... and it was out of date! Cost me £90, an emergency trip to Liverpool, a lot of queuing/waiting/stress to renew it at short notice!
A:
It really does depend on the opening times, but be prepared for 'not much notice' on when the trip will actually be, once the opening times are released and be prepared to try and book acomodation within a few days after the trip dates are decided, as it soon gets fully booked up and you end up sleeping with steph under the stars!
I'm not faffing about like this year trying to please everyone, that might sound selfish, but I lost what little hair I had trying to decide the dates

ROFL !!!!
Think I'll try & get a hotel in Nurburg town this time, closer to the track & walking distance from the pub

Cheers
David
A:
You can probably put me and Em down again as well.
A:

A:
Of course I will be up for this again . Great fun and this year the Cupra Net trip I attended lived up to the mantle of being....
"...the funniest weekend of the year"
This year we ** will ** be combining the CGTI & Seat Cupra Net trips.
We'd like to pack the Pistenclause restaurant with 30 + people
A:
I HAVE to come along this year. The corrado will be ready for this one, it has to be, it's what I'm building it for.
A:
Chris
Paul - you better!!
A:
I'll be going with the SC.net crew, weather that coincides with the CGTI juant as in previous years is another matter
Cant wait either way
A:
weather that coincides with the CGTI juant as in previous years is another matter
We're totally commited to seeing that happen.
A:
I should have at least one car capable this year!
A:
!
I lost what little hair I had trying to decide the dates
the only hair you've had for ten years is in places that only a hot R32 driving blonde would get to see...
Mind you, I am catching up pretty well.
Is it my turn to say "so do we just pay the money to you and you sort everything?"
A:
Err no If you read the thread properly soldier, it asks if you wouldn't mind reading the other threads before asking such things
A:
Gary, i definitely want to come. Regardless of anything else. I was so p***** off that i was not allowed the time off work last year. Eventually, once dates are announced, can we please make sure that the trip is NOT during the main school/holiday season. Else i will never be able to attend as the directors take the time off work and im not permitted the same time off.
A:
Need to avoid the world cup also - basically all June
Other dates to bear in mind are:
Berg Cup 2006 (be nice to see one of these - need to find out where the
hills are in respect to the ring)
29./30. April 2006 - Rennsteig Bergrennen,
20/21.Mai 2006 - Nommern
04./05.Juni 2006 - Wolsfelder Bergrennen,
24./25.Juni 2006 - Ibergrennen Heiligenstadt,
29./30.Juli 2006 - Hauenstein Bergrennen,
12./13.August 2006 - Osnabrücker Bergrennen,
26./27.August 2006 - Kyffhäuser Bergrennen,
09./10. September 2006 - Bergrennen Unterfranken,
23/24. September 2006 - Agatha
07./08.Oktober 2006 - Bergrennen Mickhausen
And the other 'must see' event is the Euro Rally X at Valkenswaad in
Holland (about 1.5hrs from Ring) - weekend of 19/20 Aug 2006 - may
just make this a separate urine up though and go for a few days just here.
Fantastic trip each time I have been, last time was total lunacy.....
Ave it
Rob
