Incorrect or incomplete entries (including driver to be nominated entries) are to be held in abeyance until they are complete and correct and the date of receipt for acceptance of entry purposes shall be the date on which the Secretary of the Meeting receives the missing or corrected information or fee.
3. Any withdrawal of entry or driver/car changes made after acceptance of any entry must be notified to the Secretary of the Meeting in writing. If driver/vehicle changes are made after the publication of Entry Lists with Final Instructions, the Competitor concerned will be accepted in accordance with B.12.1.12.
4. The entry fee for each round shall be as per the Supplementary Regulations.
5. In the event of any rounds being oversubscribed the Organising Club may, in liaison with the Series Co-ordinator, at their discretion run Qualification races. For Qualification Race procedures see 3.13 of these regulations.
6. Reserves are to be nominated on the Final List of Entries published with the Final Instructions or Amendment Sheet Bulletins. Reserves will practice and replace non-qualified, withdrawn or retired entries in Reserve Number order irrespective of class. If reserves are given Grid Places prior to issue of the first Grid Sheets for any round, the times set in practice shall determine their grid positions. If Reserves are given places after publication of the grid sheet and prior to cars being collected in the Official “Assembly Area” they will be placed at the rear of the grid and be started without any time delay. Otherwise they will be held in the Pitlane and be released to start the race after the last car to start the Green Flag Lap or last car to take the start has passed the startline or pitlane exit whichever is the later. Such approval to start MUST be obtained from the Clerk of Course.
3.2: BRIEFINGS: Organisers must notify competitors of the times and locations for all briefings in the Final Instructions or Official Race Day Bulletins for the meetings. Competitors must attend all briefings.
3.3: PRACTICE: The minimum period of practice to be provided is to be as specified in the MSA Regulations J.4.4.1. Should any practice session be disrupted, the Clerk of the Course shall not be obliged to resume the session or re-run sessions to achieve the series criteria and the decision of the Clerk of the Course shall be final.
3.4:QUALIFICATION: Each driver must complete a minimum of 3 laps practice in the car to be raced and in the correct session in order to qualify for selection and order of precedence as set out in MSA regulations J.4.4. The Clerk of the Course and/or Stewards of the Meeting shall have the right to exclude any driver whose practice times or driving are considered to be unsatisfactory - as per MSA Regulation J 4.4.3.
3.5:RACES: The standard minimum scheduled race distance shall be 15 minutes whenever practicable but should any race distance be reduced at the discretion of the Clerk of the Course or Stewards of the Meeting, it shall still count as a full points-scoring round.
NOTE: With the 750 MC, only formula which use slicks are given green flag laps – it simply wastes too much time and is rarely used properly! If you’re happy without green flag, then the whole of 3.6 can be substituted with the following in yellow highlight.
3.6: STARTS: Unless modified by the Organising Club’s Standing Regulations, the following regulations shall apply:-
1. There will be a minimum elapsed period of 3 minutes from cars being released from the Assembly Area to the start of the race.
2. Start Procedure: A ‘two minute’ board will be shown on the startline; engines should be started at this stage and the grid cleared of any pit crew. A ‘one minute’ board will be shown, followed by a ‘30 second’ board; a ‘5 second’ board will be displayed; approximately 5 seconds after this board is withdrawn the red lights will be switched on; after between 2 seconds and 7 seconds they will be switched off to start the race. In the event of the failure of these lights a National Flag will be used to start the race.
3. The use of tyre heating/heat retention devices, tyre treatments and compounds is prohibited.
4. Any car removed from the grid or driven into the pits after leaving the Assembly Area shall be held in the pitlane and may start the race after the last car to take the start from the grid has passed the startline or pit exit lane whichever is the later.
5. Any drivers unable to start the race are required to indicate their situation as per MSA regulation J 13.10.2.
6. Excessive weaving to warm-up tyres - using more than 50% of the track width - and falling back in order to accelerate and practice starts, is prohibited.
3.7: RACE STOPS:
1. Case A – less than 2 laps completed by the race leader. The race will be declared null and void. The race will restart from the original grid positions. Competitors unable to take the restart may be replaced by reserves who will start from the back of the grid in reserve order. Gaps on the grid should not be closed up. The length of the restarted race will be determined by the Clerk of Course.
2. Case B – more than 2 laps completed by the race leader, but less than 50% of its duration. The (two part) race will restart from a grid set out by the finishing order of part one (as per J.5.4.4). The result of the race will be the finishing order at the end of part two. The length of the restarted race will be determined by the Clerk of Course.
3. If a race has to be stopped after the leader has completed more than 2 laps but less than 50% of its duration it will be considered as the first part of a two-part race. Cars will be restarted from a grid set out in the finishing order derived as J5.4.4 and the final result will be the order of finishing at the end of the restarted race unless Series Regulations specify otherwise.
4. If the leader has completed more than half of the race distance or duration it shall not be re-started and the results will be declared in accordance with MSA Regulation J.5.4.4.
3.8: RE-SCRUTINY: All vehicles reported involved in contact incidents during races or practice must be re-presented to the Scrutineers before continuing in the races or practice.
3.9: PITS AND PITLANE SAFETY:
1. Pits: Entrants must ensure that the MSA, Circuit Management and Organising Club Safety Regulations are complied with at all times.
2. Pitlane: The outer lane or lanes are to be kept unobstructed to allow safe passage of cars at all times. The onus shall be on all drivers to take all due care and drive at minimum speeds in pit lanes.
3. Refueling may only be carried out in accordance with the MSA Regulation J. 14, Circuit Management regulations and the Sirs or Final Instructions issued for each Circuit/Meeting.
3.10: RACE FINISHES: After taking the chequered flag drivers are required to: - Progressively and safely slow down, remain behind any competitors ahead of them, return to the pitlane entrance as instructed, comply with any directions given by Marshals or Officials and to keep their helmets on and harnesses done up while on the circuit or in the pitlane.
3.11: RESULTS: All Practice timesheets, grid sheets and Race Results are to be deemed PROVISIONAL until all vehicles are released by Scrutineers after post-practice/race scrutineering and/or after completion of any judicial or technical procedures.
3.12: TIMING MODULES: The 750 Motor Club utilises AMB transponder-based timing and competitors should have a compatible transponder fitted and advise the race organisers of its number prior to the event. The transponder is a TRANX 260 Direct Powered and is available from HS Sports Ltd – 01260 275708. For drivers only competing in a few races, transponders may be hired from the 750 Motor Club if preferred.
3.13: QUALIFICATION RACES: If on closing date the number of entries received is at least 12 more than the maximum number of starters permitted, the race meeting organisers will endeavour, if feasible within the timetable, to run two practice sessions and two races comprising a heat and a final. If the conditions for the practice sessions are significantly different, the fastest 25% from both sessions will make up the front 50% of the grid for the final. The grid for the heat will be filled from those remaining drivers, in order of times set in practice. The remainder of the grid for the final will be selected from the finishing order in the heat.

A:

caster is allowable to be adjusted but suspension must remain in same positions.
conflicting? or allows some to modify their wishbones a smidge
A:

How many cars are signed up for this series so far, if you don't mind my asking?
A:

I tried getting on golfgtiracing.co.uk, but theres nothing there, presumably thats a work in progress and will go into more detail on the financial side?
A:

How Long Have I Waited For This!!!!!!
A:

Very good, couple of things though...
I'm guessing that in 5.6: Engine e & f, one or other should be dimensions for the head ?
Whats the score on the cam changes, surely a pair of 16v cams are going to be an expensive addition... plus not a great deal of point on either model without other engine work. There must be a way to ensure standard cams are used without cheating ? Rolling road power testing and sealing perhaps... A radical departure from the norm plus cr*p idle would give the game away in most cases.
Are early cars allowed to fit later size discs to equalise performance (i.e 239-256) as no size is stated ?
Is the statement "air box maybe modified AFTER the filter" correct... lower air box mods (drilling) prohibited then ?
A:

Just wondering in the regs it mentions you can run a LHD or RHD does that mean you could convert a RHD built car to LHD? Also Is it just me or is there no mention of the roll cage construction? I've probably just missed it but does that mean you can run tubes down sills etc? And finally there is no mention in the tyres section of softner compound, Is it acceptable to use a softner? Looks like it will be a good championship as long as it is policed very strictly as with all motorsport it is often a little too tempting to 'flex' the rules. Best of luck
A:

3.6: STARTS: Unless modified by the Organising Club’s Standing Regulations, the following regulations shall apply:-
3. The use of tyre heating/heat retention devices, tyre treatments and compounds is prohibited.
i think that rules out the tyre softeners - and the roll cage is limited to 6 point bolt in with welding to bodywork expressly forbidden
Looks like a seriously cheap series with the very limited mods - like a mk2 golf version of the stock hatch rules.
I'll be interested to see how strictly the organisers police physical driving - that's normally the thing that lets down a budget series
A:

oh yes so I see, sorry must have missed that. Yea I will be keeping a close eye on it im sure it will be good crack though, a bit of door rubbing is fair enough and inevitable for single make stuff aslong as its not all about punting people off, I think the difficult bit will be stopping the cheating, in my experience motorsport is full of it, I suppose if the engines are all sealed at the start of the season by the championship organisers then that would help. Again I've probably just missed it but can you run Data analysis gear?
A:

Could somebody run a G60 shell with 8v/16v gear thrown in it?
Can you change final drives?
I also thought it would be easier to police standard KR 16v cams as they have the cut away base of the lobe. A quick check with the oil filler off and no expensive cam outlay.
A:

I'm very torn on this series.

One one hand I'm very excited about it, but on the other it makes me wonder how many good MK2's will be killed to sustain it.

I agree with the rest of the guys that surely standard KR cams are the way forward?
A:

Thanks for your comments so far!!
I will answer as many questions as I can, although some will have to refered to our Techincal Officer as my involvement regarding development of the regulations has been limited.
Badger5 - Yes you are right that is conflicting, althought the suspension retaining same position related to mounting points. Will get clarification from our TO.
andrewF - Would rather not answer that question!!
robin09 - Yes, is currently under construction, although final version of the website will hopefully be approved next wednesday night. The site will obviously contain the regulations and other information regarding the series. Also a page will detail some information regarding the organising committee.
mr.hillclimber - Yes dimensions have been discussed. Currently reviewing control camshaft, they will be at heavily discounted price. Disks must remain standard sizes, as manufactured. Will get clarification from our TO.
Will answer remaining questions tomorrow due to time. Again, thanks for your input/ support!!

A:

it does seems like stock hatch for mk2's !! also a lot of already race prepared mk2's will not be eligable due to regulations which is a shame apart from ex stock hatch mk2's, so most of the cars will need to be custom built for the series or modified road cars with minimal mods.
i cant see much info on roll bars, ie standard, modified etc, can anti roll bars be cut in the middle and sleved? i might have just missed this.
looks like the man with a LHD car and an expensive suspension set up will be leading the field IMO. going to be some close racing just hope the driving standards will be a respectable level
its going to be good to watch
A:

Just having a proper read through and just worth making comments (not being negative and I had a bit of a rake through, seem to have got carried away , but not trying to be the clever git - hope useful)
- agree, LHD should be removed. There are few in the UK, even fewer race cars, and only the mick takers will use them - these are the last people you want around.
- 5.5.1 & 5.5.3 - stipulating removal of driver's interior door trim is unnecessary. They weigh nothing, and it just takes time, effort and £? to create aluminium or plastic (or carbon fibre) equivalents.
- how much are the cams? Seems unnecessary. People may buy them, but may not fit them.
- I'd suggest a specific ban on uprated or modified metering heads, not passively stated via 'original type and specification for the vehicle'
- worth clarifying whether standard ECUs can have chips changed - there's a thread on this forum about 16V versions, and it's not difficult to up the rev limits if people know what's what.
- 5.5 - would be good to stamp out removal of exterior underseal for simplicity of car preparation. No need to remove if no seam welding... though 'repairs' are a grey area. Cross ref with weight limits which will incentivise people to have a go...
- 5.7 Outlaw remote reservoir suspension, as per Road Saloons regs? On cost grounds it has to be done.
- 5.7.2a isn't clear
- 5.8b - min flywheel weight could be specified. See VW Cup regs (though worth checking as I seem to recall someone struggling to find one heavy enough).
- 5.10.1 doesn't address the issue of 239mm brakes on some 16V models and 256 on later models (edit, realised Mr Hillclimber spotted this)
- Weight limits seem potentially quite low and will tempt people into taking weight out where it should be left. Worth reviewing once an eligible car accessible.
- On the castor point, I'd suggest disallowing it.
- Specify what can/can't be done with rear wheel camber and toe angles. Basic shimming is an easy mod, but if stipulated as standard, axles have been known to be press-adjusted in the past (see '90s Polo G40 series)...
- 5.11 - is the ET of wheels specified? How does this match with 5.7.4 (standard track)? Wheel spacers allowed?
- 5.5 - would be useful to state whether zero-tolerance policy exists on trimming or rolling inner arch lips, and trimming plastic wheel arch spats, (compare with 5.11)
- 5.11.2a - needs to address wheels with 'magnesium content'. I think some Compomotives are 'magnesium alloy'.... even though they're (edit) NOT what we view as magnesium.
- 5.9.1 should in theory need 4 lamp grilles. May be worth a concession to allow non-GTI 2 lamp grilles to avoid the expense of replacing 4 in a smash, or perhaps allow blanked inners?
- 5.12 - may be worth noting a ban on quick racks? Don't think they exist (RHD), but have heard Quaife talk about possible production...and there are LHD versions listed.
- Worth stamping out G60 shells (as mentioned by Tub) and Rallye shells if anyone fancies arguing they're GTIs...
- Also worth being very specific about non-removal of unused bracketry (5.5.1). Amazing how the stuff just falls off otherwise...
- 5.10.2a Suggest extending to rear brakes also since costs £0.
A:

Question over 5.10, 4, a Brake ducting,
Early small bumper cars tend to come with ducts from the lower splitter into the arch liner but later big bumper cars don't have this, will an early car have to remove this or can a big bumper car fit it as its a 'VAG' part and not aftermarket ducting.
A:

I sense the value of 1989 Mk2 16vs is about to go up - bigger brakes, and brake ducts fitted as std
If the reg on brake ducts calls for the ones on small bumper models to be removed then surely that's deviation from the std bodywork?

Metering head point is well worth looking at.
Where does it stand on shimmed metering heads link i had on G-Let.. also WUR modded 16v's. And can an 8v use the 16v kit?

Congratulations to all those involved in setting this up, best wishes for every success. I`m sure the regs can be made `fair` and workable given a few more well chosen PROHIBITED sections .... maybe state REGARDLESS of what year the vehicle was built.

I think maybe look at some of the cost issues and benefits given... brake cooling for example. It's likley that half of the cars entering will be small bumper, so will already have brake ducting. Also it costs almost nothing in time and money to fit ducts to a big bumper.
A:

I'd have thought the brake issue would be simple to sort.

Brake ducts, 239mm.

No brake ducts, 256mm.
A:

What about later spec small bumper 16v's that have ducts and 256's?

Wish i had the money to get into this Race series. Sounds like its going to be tremendous fun!! Ive been reading the other thread about your car from the start, and wanted to say congratulations to those involved in setting it up.
//scurries off to wish i had a race license and prepared Mk2 and a wad of cash to enter!!

These were only produced for about 6 months - 1 year.

If you happen to buy one of these you either take the choice to change the bumper or the brakes, or not buy an obscure model.

seems like this could happen and be fairly successful.
one thing i noticed was on the wheels would it not be a good idea to limit the wheels to std vw stamped wheels in 14" or 15" size. these will be easy to get hold of and will reduce the replacement costs should anything happen.
