A&Q about 350Z

Looks nice.
A:

Don't know why but something just doesn't seem right about that car
A:

Not alot of info on it,doesn't look like a B reg shell to me either!
A:

Looks to far too clean for a race car built 16 years ago
A:

Its a track car, you wouldnt exactly be looking for impeccable service history and minumum owners would you. If its been rebuilt, especially for a race series it was in, then youd expect fresh paint and a clean engine.
A:

Looks like a nice car. High speed fuel filler on C pillar gives this away as something possibly on a higher level than most.
Seam welded, motorsport shell - sounds like a cut above.
Could be an unregistered race shell which has 'found' its way onto the road...
Maybe one of the old Quantum cars, or National saloon type cars. The sort of thing on .

A:

nice.......... sha,me about the mirros
A:

Good point - I missed that!

Doors have been changed too, odd thing to do on a race car, unless old small windows doors have been damaged at some point and they've lobbed a set of ex chav spec mk2s doors on it , complete with those gash mirrors.
A:

"Performance engine"
Thank you very much for the abundance of information there
A:

Anyone asked him about the car?
A:

Gary, if it has plastic windows then it would have done away with the small window frame. Possibly.
But even stranger is the 90 spec kit on a 1985 car? lol.
Gurds
A:

Still, a stint in the hands of a VW enthusiast rather than out-and-out racer and it all makes sense.
But...
... B-reg car, 88-on spec front wipers....
A:

Thats what i thought along with the rear VW badge and the doors obviously
Lot of time & effot put into it mind the cage into the dash for 1!
A:

Forgot the 90 spec plastic air intake manifold, and did early cars get the large washer bottle or the smaller mk1 style?
A:

yep a few odd bits and some trick parts, could well of been a 80`s racer as said, looks like its got a alloy metering head,vw`s are cast apart from the ke ones but looks like k-jet system
A:

ha ha, I am sorry but it looks like a crappy Mk2 that has had some back yard treatment. Not exactly stripped out is it!?
If it has poly windows why did they bother sticking the door cards and the winder mechanism back in. he still has the centre console for gods sake.
Correct me if I am wrong but it looks awfully like a back seat that I can see in the bottom corner of one pic, if it is not and it is just the frame he should have taken that out as well.
A:

Maybe it was built with intention of a production car 'group n' type of event in mind, they still have to run the door panels and rear seat, in some cases.
A:

Or maybe the guy that owns it wasnt bothered about shredding every single ounce of weight and wanted to drive it to the track in relative comfort.
Maybe also, its a later car with an early plate. Maybe something significant to the owner if it had been registered for the road late.
Instead of asuming, why dont people genuinely interested in it actually send the guy an email to see if he can elaborate on the history of the car.
A:

To assume makes an ass out of u and me!!
This is Club GTI Luke, full of doubters
A:

i emailed him asking for more pics and info
this is his reply
"Thats the only pics and info i have which i put on the advert its a good competion car not made from a road going car proper bits and can be used on the road too its still has front passenger seat and rear seatnot many like this at the price"
A:

And breathe!!
A:

yeah, his mastery of the english language inspires me!!
A:

If the original owner has put a 'ATL BAG TANK, WITH SIDE FILLERS' i would expect the rest of the car has been done properly, the cage does looks a nice tight fit. but cant see any external cut off switches! maybe deleated when resprayed and road registered !!! does sound like a late race shell put on to the road. would be nice to have a look around it.
