mk2 track car on ebay - *proper* car, pics now added to thread.

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Chris can you confirm thos p-no's for me - i'll check into them at work tomorrow The VW/Audi Part number is 027 133 353
A:

Both numbers obsolete vis bosch ESI programme, looks like its a scarp yard challenge !
A:

.
A:

Google is not much help on either of the part numbers, unless you can read Cyrillic (I think).
A:

Sparrow: What is the Bosch part no, cos my wife works for them and she can get all bosch parts, even the old ones.
A:

Is this the bosch part no ? 0438 120 195
A:

Yep, looks like it to me....
A:

If that dosn't bring anything up, I'll check it again when I pick the car up tomorrow.
A:

Well, she's howm now.
Couple of niggles on the way home, very spongy brakes and the car crabs a bit under hard braking, and a horrible misfire if you press the throttle too far. Almost like the timing is taking a while to advance? Not a very good explanation, but best I can think of.
Goes pretty well when not misfiring, but I didn't want to push it too hard, as I have no idea how much it has been run lately.
Will give it the once over tomorrow before sticking a car cover over her. Oh yeah, and take some pics.
BTW, the metering head is supposed to be off a Porsche?
Edit: Howm? HOWM? Oh dear! It took me two hours to even notice that.
A:

Well, she's howm now.
Did the guy say it was off a Porsche, in a knowledgeable way or...just off the cuff?
A:

Cheers Chris.
He said, "Now that you've bought it, I can tell you that the metering head is off a Porsche". Shrug.
A:

Odd really - when he name dropped the ex-works car he owned previously, I nodded, and then named another team member, so he would know he wasn't dealing with total wasters...
But we'll get on the case...
A:

I didn't mention it yesterday, but there was an extra metering head that he gave me. I thought it would just be the standard one, but the part numbers are the same.
I've taken a couple of pics, and will post up in the member's cars at some point.
A:

Ok peeps got a price on that part. 155 pounds +del.
A:

Whoa, lots of comments. Thanks guys.
Firstly a BIG thanks to Chris for the help with going over the car. I probably would have bottled it without his help. His knowledge about these cars is amazing.
I paid £2400 for it, which was a little more than I wanted to, but still less than he had in mind, and I doubt I would have got it much lower. And I would have risked losing, to put it in Chris's words, "one of the most unspoilt ex-race type Mk2s I've seen".
I suspect there are 1 or 2 porkies in the ad, but I can't prove it, and can't be bothered.
Plan for the car is to whip out the existing engine, as I have a 9A that's getting some special bits and a turbo, so I'll have a nice 1.8 engine for sale soon. Some new shocks are in order, although the 450lb springs seem fairly recent. It needs a few other bits and bobs doing to it before I can play with it properly, but I'll definitely take it to Donny on the 5th of November. Not sure about running it, as the exhaust is rather loud, and I don't want to lose £100 just for that.
The mirrors have to go, but they are not priority. I also have to sell my current Mk2 (the ex-Stealth Racing 1.8 turbo) before I can afford to do too much to this.
Missed this thread, nice one Alex, hope to see you out on track in it as and when mate
A:

924 turbo metering head possibly?
Weren't the 944 turbos efi? Lizard?
A:

Porsche Metering Head part numbers:
924 (1985) 047 133 471A
924 (1985) 931 110 906 00 / 931 110 906 02 Turbo/GT
944 - L-Jetronic
A:

Nav u nutter well done
The bosch connection is getting well useful
A:

What Porsche is it off then, and HTF did you find those numbers,James?
A:

Any chance the metering head could be a Saab or Volvo turbo unit rather than a Porsche part?
A guy I was talking to a while back who used to race Mk2's 'back in the day' was telling me they used a Volvo one on his rally car to good effect, that was a 2 litre 16v on k-jet.
A:

Could be Stu!
A:

A:

Asked a dealer... if you know what I mean...
I was thinking Saab/Volvo as well.
The 027 must relate to an VW/Audi model, like for instance part numbers starting with 171 are Mk1, 191 Mk2's, 1H0 Mk3's etc.
A:

Go on the Bosch number tbh.
Could move some of this into a metering head thread folks?
A:

& strangley on a big 8v a 1.6 metering head works better than a 1.8 one?
