i love this motor iconic!! but does anyone know why vw used this shell and not the wider arched raylle,i know theres no prop shaft needed but thought the raylle was a stiffer motorsport shell. or did they use a g60 synco shell with independent rear suspension?

VW's twin engined cars tended to have front susp. as rear - same as the Dubsports. Pikes peak cars were spaceframed - one of them is in the museum IIRC.

i noticed the engines were mounted the oposite way to normal as in the audi 80's but dubsports were horizontal!. i need to see one of these up close to really understand it. looks like a simular construction to the space framed pug t16S with a front tub

They've done both I think - the Mk1 Jetta, Sciroccos and Pikes Peak twin 1300 turbo Mk2 version were transverse.
