Ground noise...help!

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

i just whacked in two JL 12" audios in the boot the other day but im gettin a fair bit of ground noise. i can minimise this by turning the volume down on the amp but then i dont get the subs kickin. i hooked up the ground wire to a bolt on the side...i sanded the surface down but im still gettin ground noise. could it be anything else? i checked the ground wire and theres no slits...well they're completely covered up in insulation tape. any ideas?????

where do you take the power for your amp from? does the noise alter with the engine revs? if its direct from the battery you may be getting some interference. Top end amps have filters built in to prevent this. if your amp doesnt then you can buy a fillter from Halfords etc, be sure to get one that matches the power requirements of your system as then can be rated as low as 10 amps, if your amp pulls more than 120w rms then your 10 amps is out.

hmmm not too sure whether my amp has an inbuilt filter. its a kenwood KAC Ps521. i think it does...but yeh im runnin the power straight from the battery and everytime i rev the car, its like i get the exhaust comin through the speakers...tis very annoying...to be honest, i might just take the subs out and sell em on cos its way too much for me...happy with my 6x9s lol
