A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Right, Ive finally pulled my finger out of my **** and got on with just swapping in the engine from my 1.6 injection into my 1.8 auto manual...
Ive got all of the manual stuff into the auto... 3 pedal box, proper gears, and gear linkage and so on...
The engine crane from HSS turned up today, and i whipped the engine out of the 1.6 in only 6 hours today
Ive got the engine on the crane and ready to go in...
Ive been thinking, will the fuel system in my 1.8 carb be man enough for the 1.6 injection system??
The supply and return pipes look exactly the same on both cars... The only difference being a fuel pump monuted in the engine bay on the 1.6 injection. Obviously Ill be putting this in tomorrow, But will i need to swap anything over at the tank end of the car?
Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, Ive been pub for a few tonight
Cheers, tony.

Anyone?

its been 8 minutes!
has it got a pump that differs to the 1.6????
and put in the engine section of the forum too

Thanks!!!
Sorry a little impatient, and ive got the G/f nagging me to get off the PC

There's high pressure fittings on both ends of the fuel pipes? Also, don't they come out the other side of the engine bay? You'd also need a fuel injection fuel tank, pump, accumulator and fit a fuel pump relay (wiring follows the path of the level gauge sender).
Which 1.6 injection had a fuel pump mounted in the engine bay?
Is it a cabby or a hatchback? Mk1, 2, 3??? etc

Why are you switching to the smaller engine. Stick the head and fuel system from the 1.6 onto the bigger block, unless it's knackered anyway, and use the manual box and linkage bits to convert it from auto.
If your 1.8 car is a carb there's no way the fuel system will handle the pressure needed for injection. the pipes might be OK from what you say, but the pump runs at much higher pressure on injection cars.

Thanks for your replies!
Both cars are mk2 golfs. the injection a '90, and the 1.8 carb auto a '91.
The fuel lines both run on the same side of both vehicles coming out of the chassis under the brake servo. The injection's supply line goes into what looks like a fuel pump bolted near the suspension turret, before getting to the injection system.
Im swapping in the 1.6 because the 1.8's bottom end is knackered. I was going to go 16v, But realised that would get quite expensive... And im missing just having my car on the road.
So basically thats a yes then to using the fuel system from the 1.6. Do i really need to change the whole tank though? Cant i just swap the fuel pumps, lines and wiring?
A:
the pump will by the tank,
i think what your refering too is an accumulator
