Top mounts are the mounts that form the top of the spring sandwich on your spring and damper setup. You don't really NEED to replace them unless they are borked but it's often better to anyway, saves you having to change them again if they break 6months down the line. Just like changing a gearbox but not doing the clutch, sods law says that a few months later the clutch will start to slip.
Couldn't say a price off the top of my head, but for top mounts i think the common advice is to use genuine VAG topmounts, although these are not the cheapest.
With it being such a new car and all, personally i would take the chance and not change them unless they are already dead, btu then, i can change them myself so it would only be a pain in the ass to me and not cost me anything in labour.

Vag top mounts are about £6+vat each.

she said the strut is £12.95+ VAT and then i need a ball bearing which is £7.95+VAT ?????

The bearing she referred to is what your after.£8+vat!!! cheaper online tbh!
