A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I recently bought a mk4 1.8t and am finding the suspension, particularly on the rear, really c**p. It is fine above 30mph and handles well in corners but every pot hole around town makes your bones rattle! Replaced the rear shocks but hasn't helped much. Read something about the rear axle bushes being poor but not sure...
I drive a few cars and have to say that although the gti looks he nuts its one of the most uncomfortable car I've been in! Also had a 1.8t Passat which didn't seem to suffer the same problems, so maybe not a VW thing?
Any suggestions?
A:
Rear bushes have been known to wear, maybe as soon as 50k - maybe worth checking out.
Owners usually moan about the 'jelly' handling on the mk4, but not harshness as you seem to describe.
Are you sure its still on std setup?
A:
yea the bushes can get worn v quickly on the mk4, sound like ur problem. ive driven/owned many vws now and the only one ive not changed the suspension set up on is my mk4 GTI. think set up is already pretty good.

if its making loud banging type noise from the rear when going over pot holes or channels etc in the road, i'd defo say rear axle bushes, i work for veedub and on the mk4 they are the only suspension weak point really, poss put some polybushes in??
we qutoe 180+vat at our place for axle bushes fitted
A:
New set of polybushes for me then... Cheers for the advice!
