ARB poly bushes...

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Any idea if i have to drop the rear subframe to get to the middle arb bushes?
The ones im talking about are circular with a flat bottom. If that makes any sense??
I cant find a pic im afraid.
Any ideas?
A:

are you talking about an eiback or aftermarket rear arb?
What car? Mk2 as in your pic?
A:

Yes most probably. They have a clamp over the top of them too. They're a bit tricky to get in so good luck...
A:

Sorry... Duh
Im fitting prothane bushes to the front of my mk2.
I see the little clamp thing your on about... But how do you get to the bushing?
A:

Also... Someone told me the wishbone bolts are one time use only... Is this true?
A:

you have to undo the eyelt bushes either side, drop the subframe slightly, and undo the clamp bolts. Then you can lift out the clamps and pop out the ARB
Thw 2 mounting bolts for the wishbone are not use once, but the balljoint bolts and clamping plates are.
A:

Bugger!!!!
The wishbone bushes are a right pain in the ****!!!
I need a massive vice!!! Ill eitehr take them into work, or get good ol' grandad to have a look (again)
Any tips on getting them in?
I tried using a C-clamp, but that just slid around and ended up sliding off.
I also tried bashing it with a leather mallet but that didnt help either.
any ideas?
A:

Has anyone fitted prothane bushes recently?
Any idea which way round the big rear bushes go in aswell. It seems that one egde is tapered more than the other. Did anyone notice this?
A:

The rear bushes are dead easy to fit, chuck em in a bolw of boiling water to soften, then coat the moving areas with tons of copper grease. Then put the bush on the floor, sit the wishbone on top, then stamp on it! Should pop right in no bother
I'm not sure whaich way up yours go, my rally design ones were the same either way round
A:

Hmmm... Mine definately look like theyre tapered differently...
One side is 10mm, the other is 9mm.
Heres a quick paint pic for you, as i havent got a digi cam
I wouldnt have thought it would make too much difference, but i was going to fit the bigger 10mm bit facing down towards the road.
Any ideas on how to get the other circular bushing in?

A:

the front one? Isn't it in 2 halves so you can just pop it in?
A:

Oh yeah... Whoops!
So that shouldnt be a problem then.
Do you know if the split pin is removable on the oem bushing? I still havent got that out yet. I was attempting to cut it out with a stanley today and slipped and stabbed my thumb
I think ill resort to drilling it out...
cheers.
A:

Rubjonny You are the man!!!!
One soak in hot water, and it popped straight in as per your instructions!!!
Thanks man, your a life saver.
But... One more quick question... How do you get the oem front rubber bushing out, ive tried drilling it, and its not moving...
Any ideas?
A:

Oooh that one is a sod!
The way I did it was to chop the lip off round one end, then use a gear puller and a socket adaptor (put the adaptor in the hole, so the puller can push on it) to push em out. It nearly killed it though
A:

lol, and i thought i made a mess of the rear bushing...
Im going out for another try then mate.
Did you just use a sharp stanley then?
Im still wounded from where i slipped yesterday
A:

Don't be silly
I used my dremel
A:

Bugger!
Cant afford flashy bits of kit like that...
Still though, i managed to get one side done 'quite' easily enough.
Cheers for the advice.
