Best Tyre for track use on a Mk2 Golf

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hey,
For a Mk2 Golf what tyre and wheel size would you guys recommend for track days.
I have a set of
14" teardrops (185/60/14) some budget jobby
and a set of
15" oz super turismo (195/50/15) yokohama a539, pirelli p6000
also any particular brands of tyres, will not be using them on the road,
Cheers

Toyo R888 cut slicks are pretty dam good.
A539s would be a good compromise for dry tracks/road.

r888 are pants i've heard (too soft). I use Yokohama a048r's. Just about to move to Avon wet slicks soon..

I use R888s and am quite happy with them, a friend did 2000mile road trip through France inc 4 French track days, 25 laps of the 'ring on the same set of R888s....
I used A048s in the past, very good tyre but a bit more money than the Toyos.
Neither are as grippy as a set of old Michelin Clio cup slicks tho....

would 195/50/15's be the right width and profile for the tyre??

195/50/15 is good for a 7" wide rim.
