A&Q about 350Z
Q:
my local gsf say that they dont do them?
where else could i get a set of new/refurb'd from? and how much?
have had one price @ 65 quid each, altho unsure of availbility
A:
You could always use calipers from a Mk3 GTI or a pre '95 VR6. Thats what I used when I converted to G60 brakes. They are more available so should be cheaper and easier to find.
A:
try ebay, loads stuff on there like that!!!!
A:
yeah but new ones go for a small fortune
A:
try audi twin pot calipers, apparently they a direct fit, and better stopping power-about the same money as g60's too i think.
A:
ok will have a go i have twin pots on the audi, only down side is the weigh the same as a small horse.
A:
yeah i got my calipers from a 93 vr6. i had to get 16v hubs to bolt the caliper carriers onto tho. then used g60 discs
A:
i have hubs and carriers and even calipers that i bought at the week end. i havent examind the calipers yet so i may need to swap them
A:
drunkenalan, what are the twin pot calipers like for stoppin power, are they alot better? as i was actually thinkin of gettin some for mi mk2
A:
on the audi they dont make much difference as the audi came with 280 discs to start with and single pot calipers. they are better tho and you can feel an improvement
A:
hmm ill put some in mi letter to santa then methinks!
A:
When you say G60 calipers do you mean just standard 280mm brake calipers or Girling 60's (twin pots as fitted to audi S2?)
I recently bought a pair of standard corrado G60 calipers from VW for £55 exchange but this was a very good trade price as they already had one NOS...
The Girling 60's can be had for about £79 each + £10 surchange + vat from a Lucas dealer but it's the carriers that are also needed for a conversion and i've not been able to find a cheap supplier...
Worth noting that the above may need a different master cyl on a non ABS car...
G-werks sell them as a kit with pads i think.
A:
g60 golfs early audi ur's come with girling 54 calipers
audi s2's come with girling 60 calipers
the both get shortened to G54 and G60 which causes no end of confusion - me included until a year ago
