Steering in the wet problems

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I have a N reg 16v. The car has started behaving strangly in the wet. When I go round a sharp right hand corner the steering gets very very heavy as if it has locked, once on the straight again the steering feels fine. It only happens in the wet. Anyone any ideas? Cheers

hiya, not sure exactly what the problem is, but have you checked your tyre pressures and more importantly the tread wear pattern. I had something similar on my mk3 golf 16v, and found it was my tyres were almost bare in the inside of both fronts, but still had about 4mm on outside, the problem was due to the camber being out. Since changing tyres I haven't had this problem. But I still need to get the camber adjusted.

Sure it isnt your pas cutting out. My pas does this in the wet sometimes.

As above plus, and it might sound daft, but check the PAS belt tension - they don't always squeal when slipping and it will feel like someone turned the PAS of when it slips. Just a thought.

Common problem of the belt slipping in the wet - hence the pump slows down and you loose the fluid pressure.

Happening to me of late also, and mines deffo the power steering belt/tension. Servicing the car this weekend, so putting a new belt on at the same time.

i got the same problem to put new belt on right as rain lol
